Dumping Windows Phone. Where to now?

Well, it's not much help anyways. It's $300 for the 16GB version (also no SD slot), so at least 4 grand to get here with shipping and customs nonsense.

I think maybe your expectations are a bit high...

R2500 budget for a high-end Android phone with expandable storage AND not secondhand AND last 2 to 3 years?

Sure, let me know when you find one of those during your next trip to unicorn land :p

Hisense Infinity Pure! Thanks Thor187 :)

If I manage to sell my Lumia I could afford the Moto G or equivalent. I'm not sure if it's going to sell though. 35 views on the auction and no bids yet

one plus one, is a phone i would definitely purchase, afaik sales to public might only start next year, which might not be a bad thing if you ask me.

I thoroughly agree with you there. I'd buy that before a Nexus even

@ OP you can get something along the lines of a Sony Xperia M, Galaxy Trend Plus, S3 Mini, Ace 3 or even a Huawei G510....pretty nice phones that fits your price.

Of that, the S3 Mini stands out to me :). Being a former P6 owner, look for a used one... They are really nice

The s3 Mini is decent if you don't mind an older version of Android, but the Ace 3 and the Xperia M does come with the newer one

Thanks. I looked at all of them but none of them beat the phone I found... Acer Liquid E3. Amazing specs, amazing price!

MOD please move this thread to the Android side or lock it.

This thread is about the Windows OS and not a comparison tread.
If we need to compare OS then post in the OPEN Cellular: Mobile Phones, Call Contracts, Content, MMS and SMS

So I've decided to ditch WP. Too much of a hassle and not a nice experience. I'm selling my Lumia 520 and upgrading to Android. If anyone is interested, I took good care of it, it can be found here: http://www.bidorbuy.co.za/item/154936219/Mint_condition_Nokia_Lumia_520_with_free_accessories.html

Anyway, any ideas on what to upgrade to? I have a max (and that really is the max) budget of R2500. I don't really like the idea of secondhand. Ideas? I was thinking of Afrihost's Zest T1 or Kalahari's Gobii IVP. What would you guys suggest? I'm a power user on a nonexistant budget basically. :(

This is a very strange thread indeed.

Quite frankly, I feel this thread is misplaced and should have been in the general section where it would have had more of the desired effects, namely to troll Windows Phone and to speak about other phone options (not Windows) as if they indeed are better than Windows Phone.

What would your reasons for ditching Windows Phone be because you just may be jumping out of the pot and straight into the frying pan.

With the latest Windows Phone update (already here or on the way in a few days or weeks) you have basically all you need OS wise and apps for the OS are not too shabby either.

Let us know please. I promise I won't wrap you on the knuckles.

I already have the "new" Windows Phone update... But this thread is pretty senseless now since I'm not going the Android route anymore... Due to some personal reasons I have to stay with this phone for at least a year. I don't really like that since the specs are very low, but I don't have a choice. A bit busy now, I'll reply later with exactly why I don't like WP. :)
