Dumping Windows Phone. Where to now?

So I've decided to ditch WP. Too much of a hassle and not a nice experience. I'm selling my Lumia 520 and upgrading to Android. If anyone is interested, I took good care of it, it can be found here: http://www.bidorbuy.co.za/item/154936219/Mint_condition_Nokia_Lumia_520_with_free_accessories.html

Anyway, any ideas on what to upgrade to? I have a max (and that really is the max) budget of R2500. I don't really like the idea of secondhand. Ideas? I was thinking of Afrihost's Zest T1 or Kalahari's Gobii IVP. What would you guys suggest? I'm a power user on a nonexistant budget basically. :(
 
funny enough, my cousin is in a similar position, been trying to help him with research.

2.5k max budget, new. as a power user you have no options pretty much. Afrihost has apparently been having network or data issues, i saw a few posts regarding this.

there is also the options to import, chinese dual sim stuff, quality isnt to bad.

personally i wud go 2nd hand route, get like a newish P6 ascend, root and your on ur way
 
Yes I know about the issues, I've had them myself. But they were resolved pretty quickly and the overall service is unbeatable. I have to use this phone for a potential 2-3 years so I'm avoiding cheap and cheerful chinese imports... Lol. Secondhand P6 might actually be a good idea, I'll look around on BoB for one. Thanks for the help!
 
Moto G. Check the thread here about it. You may need to bring it in yourself though since it is not sold in SA...

I was watching a youtube video 2 days ago where the guy said they were going to open sales to general public very soon, so I guess not long now?

Been using it for a month on MTN and haven't had any problems, I use it for business; calls, emails, whatsapp, SMS, casual browsing when I can't access a PC and occasional camera use (camera's not as good as my old Nokia 500 but it's not bad). Haven't had to reboot the phone since I first switched it on. The manual's a bit skimpy to say the least but a quick google has resolved any queries I might with using Jelly Bean.

I get about 1.5 days on a charge with wifi & 3G always on (currently 78% after 21hrs).

Well, it's not much help anyways. It's $300 for the 16GB version (also no SD slot), so at least 4 grand to get here with shipping and customs nonsense.

I think maybe your expectations are a bit high...

R2500 budget for a high-end Android phone with expandable storage AND not secondhand AND last 2 to 3 years?

Sure, let me know when you find one of those during your next trip to unicorn land :p

Well your budget is R2,500 mate, you're not going to get everything. Even if you increase your budget a bit, you're still not going to get everything...

Ok thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. :) It sounds good. Excpet for the camera bit. If the Nokia 500 has a better camera then the Gobii's really must suck terribly... Then again, you get what you pay for, and R1700 isn't a lot of paying... LOL. But the battery sounds good.
