We usually have our meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of the month but that will fall on Valentine’s Day which for some of us will get us into trouble if we go to wireless meetings instead of treating our other half.

It will still be on a Tuesday but the 7th Feb @ 18h30 at WBHS computer centre. http://www.dwc.za.net/Meetings

Topic will be on Routing Protocols in Wireless Networks. Some protocols discussed will be OLSR, RIP, OSP and BGP

As always at the meeting we will discuss Progress and possible link ups and of course help anyone out that does not have a clue what Wireless is about (we were all there once)

The meetings we have are more just a talk/presentation about something like in this case Setsquare did a great talk on OpenWRT. after which the guys chat amongst themselves asking questions about wireless, how could who connect to who, general computer stuff and how to solve world poverty.

So we don't keep minutes basiclly. If there is something you would like to know specifically then post on the forum or email me skydog at webmail.co.za

are you interested in wireless in general or connecting to DWC?

Durban Wireless Community Meeting 29th August

as always I'm late with posting news about DWC but we having a meeting tonight for interested people

A general meeting will be held at the Glenwood Library (Buxton/Glenwood Village, Spar center) on Tuesday 29th August 2006 @ 18h30

It will run till 20h00 but you are welcome to leave earlier

We will start the meeting off with news on DWC and how the network is currently running.

It is aimed at people wanting to connect to the network so really would be a good opportunity to get involved and up and running. I encourage everyone to attend, so bring a friend and join us.

We will then address questions that are most often asked, like what is Durban Wireless Community about, cost, equipment, how to connect, legality, internet access and if time allows Routing.

The other main reason for the meeting is to do some social networking. Meet people connected to DWC, meet people that you could potentially connect to or just meet some interesting people.

If you have any questions, the easiest way to get them answered is to join us in IRC. Server: za.shadowfire.org channel: #dwc or just email me

Remember spread the word.

Im still bleak i had to move back to East london before i managed to get involved in the mesh.
One plus tho is that Im able to start one here, already got 6 people interested and have tested the LOS between points with laptops and small directional antennas.

Its a bit of a pain setting it up in a place with so many hills and valleys but its definately something that can be done.

So as soon as the highsite is up then we get to put it all together and see how it works....
*much excitement!!*
