Durban

Yeah I'm gonna be canvassing ppl on planetmars [:)]

For some reason I can't seem to connect to shadowfire irc via the java web client. I think its my company firewall...

Anyone thats keen should plot their location on nodedb.com - that way we can get a visual idea of how to start link ppl together...

Got back to Jhb, running today (after 2 hours of downtime due to a major node failure after system maint at one of the towers) but local b/w here [tower 50] is 13.5kB and international is a dismal 4kB

My latest way of dealing with this problem is to tell/show everyone I know how "FAST" the network is and if we all throughout the country did that I believe that Sentech will catch a wakeup.

If they don't it will cost them many more millions in advertising again than is would to fix the unacceptable international bandwidth.

So from now for me it's "show and tell time"

Keithr, the minute you leave town... and suddenly the local speeds
improve to about 11kB/s (from about 2kB/s).
What the hell were you downloading to drain all our
local bandwidth [:D]

No such luck on downloads while I was there but one of the people I did a "show and tell" to was a senior Telkom employee!

Looks like things have improved here a little as well - tests just one show a solid 14KB/s on local and 7.2KB/s on International

Local is now back at what it used to be - Lets get the throttle off the International and we are cooking with gas once again!

I'm getting about 11kB/s from Tucows (IS).
Min=88 : Max=234 : Ave=119 ms : Packetloss = 0%

Edit: Durban speeds are sinking again!
17/9/04 - 6.8kB/s
18/9/04 - 3.5kB/s
19/9/04 - 4.5kB/s (Myadsl access is almost impossible too)

And I'm not there dbnnet!

I hate to mention this but right now my International and local bandwidth is a sold 12.4 KB/s (Hurleyvale tower 50 fed from Linksfield tower 110) - It's hard to believe but true - Lets hape that at last the message has got to the management have got the message and we are back to the performance levels we had when MyWireless started.

I am continuing with demo's of the modem to everyone I know (my personal "show and tell campaign") and now the demo's will be positive for Sentech with this level of performance!

Well done Sentech!

Dunno wot they did, but my speed seems way up today. Lets hope it stays that way :p

Well today the 256k is slow as snails takes a minute to open anything.. even the forums.. mmm.. if they have upgraded the 128k package I hope they do the same with the 256k one.. cause it really needs a speed boost.

<br />The Northern section of Durban is down atm (since 6 am) and will be for a while.
We have a broken fibre cable up the mast and is undergoing repairs.
This will effect the Sunningdale, Saratoga and Chartwell Towers.

Tower 90 (Seacowlake) is also dead.

Has the peering adjustment been done?

I sent the data on paper by carrier pigeon.

Does anybody else in Durban use DC++?

From Today I'm getting zippo d/l speeds, but quiet marvelous upload speeds.

According to Orc's this is because P2P has no priority on the network?

they can't explain the upload speed though?

any suggestions?

Pigeon falls to ground, accelerated by gravity.

STILL faster "Down"load than Sentech!
