E-tolls get a start date

When last have you tried renewing your driver's license? (or tried obtaining another one/different one?) They don't issue it if you got unpaid fines. The renewal of your annual disc is another story.

I did it a few months back because I misplaced my old one, there were no issues even though I had outstanding fines on my name.

Well then you were lucky (or just the usual government incompetence) in my case they just said i got a fine and have to pay it before i get a new card. Might also depend on whether it is AARTO fine or from another municipality, as they only look at AARTO fines where i am.

Maybe that,I did it in Vereeniging although I have both AARTO and non Aarto fines on my name.

Funy thing is my wife renewed her license in MP and it was like R100 cheaper,go figure why Gauteng motorists pay more for license renewal.

Spent 32 million trying to promote etolls
Countless millions actually building the whole edifice

It will fail, and then......

the money will be recovered by a fuel levy anyway.

What a fckup

For the criminal offence of using a toll road without paying, its an actual law implemented since 1998.

Its not like they can cause issues with your credit history, since the tolling is not a credit matter.

There is due process that is peremptory before any arresting can be effected - merely driving on the toll road with outstanding toll-fees is no such reason.

People read incorrectly into this and then feel intimidated into complying with e-tags propaganda.

NO DUE PROCESS = NO ARREST

COMPLY WITH DUE PROCESS = ADMINISTRATIVE MELT DOWN

E-tolls get a start date

Transport Minister Dipuo Peters has announced that e-tolls will commence on 3 December 2013 in Gauteng.

All should boycott any holiday to the Vaal and stay off the e-toll roads and use the alternate roads instead of complaining, as this after a month or two will bang a big hole in there ego, in creating more dept on individuals. it looks as though the government really wants to destroy the economy, so they can pocket more money in their own pockets as usual. Corruption is rife and as for paying up within 7 days is Bull**** as majority get paid monthly or are they trying to burden individuals with fines to create more revenue.
