EA will remaster Command & Conquer: Red Alert in 4K

Dune 2 didn't have a siege tank, that was StarCraft. Dune 2 had the Devastators from House Harkonnen, which couldn't kill infantry properly either you needed a trike or something else.
Yes, it did.

Devastators owned infantry - one shot.

That's my point - tank shells did not do reduced damage to infantry, they did full damage, basically ending them in one shot. Which I actually rather liked, but it made infantry mostly useless except for troopers.

It has been a long since I played the game, but I knew it so well that I still remember it quite well.

EDIT: What made tanks in general slightly less effective against infantry was their low rate of fire. They ended them in one hit, but if you had a lot of infantry, that could take a while. Troopers could do a decent amount of damage to tanks in that time, even if they would still ultimately lose.

It is interesting that Dune 2 used little of the Dune universe's technology. No lasguns, for instance, no shields either (although shields would draw worms, so perhaps that is why).

What was that again, lasgun x shield equals boomboom? haha

edit
Lasguns were the preferred weapon for armies. However, when shields were being employed, lasguns were generally not used because contact reaction between a lasgun beam and a shield created a nuclear explosion that often killed everyone within a large radius.

Did Dune 2 allow you to run over infantry with your tanks or did that only come along with Command and Conquer?
Could run over them with your tanks, made a lovely squishy sound

Yip, but never had it on my pc. The first pc we had capable of any decent was a Pentium 100. Before that it was a 386(iirc) that I had Sun Tzus art of war on. Now that was a game

A 386 is old enough that Sun Tzu wrote Art of War on it!

Sorry, lame joke!

If your 286 had the memory, it could play Dune2. CPU speed wasn't an issue but the mouse drivers and audio were for lower mem spec machines.

Memmanager for the win :D EMS and XMS :p

or qemm; all most as cool as gamewizard pro, back then ;)

Oh yes, the hours spent in qemm screens to get to the most optimal memory place

Lol, fancy.
Qemm was pretty awesome. After analysis paralysis you could setup the exact starting order of programs and where they go to get the most out of that 640K. GWP (game wizard pro) was also interesting, because you could search for values in memory and then alter them. Such as life, or bullets. It also allowed you to save at any given time which could sometimes be used to do the copy protection once and then save/load after it. GWP was the first legal software I owned and imported from the UK on a stiffy

$20 isn't bad, but the collection editions are way too pricey. It seems every developer is into reviving old property. To be honest, the devs here pretty much revamped the community revitalised openRA reimplementations as well as the upscaled videos, and they made a massive story about how long it took them though they were pretty much open about the videos and that they askef the community to assist. The thing is, they slammed a 'big' price on this should you wish to own the physical editions, and this is something which by large have been remastered by the C&C community.

Luckily I already own the originals with the artwork and the digital copies on Origin. I would have thought them to have also released this on Epic, but only Steam and Origin (EA) will sell it digitally.
