EA will remaster Command & Conquer: Red Alert in 4K

As long as they dont walk the same path as Blizzard with Warcraft 3 Reforged.
Comment on the You tube video..

"Imagine Blizzard and EA both doing remasters of their old games and EA is the one that does right by their fans "

What about Dune2? Such a great IP and with the new movie coming, ripe for a remake.

Just stick to the origional!

I actually think the Dune series needs a remake, but a modernisation as well.... they are more than a bit clunky from an interface and operation point of view.

Yup, I don't think Dune 2 even had multiple unit selection.

Was it dune 1 or 2 that allowed you to change unit strengths using hexedit? Those were the days, I'd love a remake, even of dune 2000.

"Dune" or "Dune 1" wasn't an FPS - it's like a hybrid adventure/strategy game.

Dune2 was the first real RTS or the acknowledged grandfather of them. Dune, was a quest game with a minimal strategic element around resource control, more closely aligned to the actual story where Dune2 was not.

If they were to stretch the IP, they could easily make a space RTS or sim as the Arrakis angle is actually only a small part of the story.

*Edit* Just a note there is a opensource project of Dune2 making it slightly modern ie: controls etc. BUT, if I had my way, I would talk to Gearbox around the engine they used for Homeworld: Deserts of Karnak. The environmental engine is perfect for a Dune game.

Also have the Dune movie coming out this year so there's the possibility of a remake or facelift (even though it's unlikely, but one can hope)

When Dune 2 came out, only one of my friends had a PC. All the kids in the neighborhood used to go to his house and spend all day eating chips and watching him play. Good memories!

Dune 2 a remastered in 2000 as Dune 2000.

I think it was fairly different though. New units, new mechanics (ie, rock paper scissors etc).

In Dune 2, a siege tank could kill an infantryman in one hit. I think in Dune 2000, they would have made it more like Red Alert, where tanks are not that effective against infantry unless they have anti infantry weapons such as machine guns.

Dune 2 didn't have a siege tank, that was StarCraft. Dune 2 had the Devastators from House Harkonnen, which couldn't kill infantry properly either you needed a trike or something else.

Did Dune 2 allow you to run over infantry with your tanks or did that only come along with Command and Conquer?

love the idea of this.
although where is all the new stuff they promised us?

proper end to Tiberium arc,
proper end to the generals arc
proper end to RA arc.
