Hi,

After losing my brain with Telkom I have moved on to WISP in search of decent internet.

Got a quote from Easyweb (looking at the 4mb uncapped option)... Anybody have any experience with them? Only R250 more than Telkom uncapped price on 4 meg if line rental and "closer" package included.

Installation is charged at R 2300.00 . This include the indoor WIFI AP (promotion for September)
The CPE stays the property of Easyweb™ and need to be returned should you no longer want to make use of this service.

Uncapped 1:10 Contention Ratio
Unshaped , No Fair use policy
1mbps line Speed R449.00 pm
2mbps line Speed R649.00 pm
4mbps line Speed R899.00 pm
10mbps line Speed R1 799.00 pm

Hi,

Just keep in mind going wireless means you're subject to a lot more outages than with a landline. So sad Telkom couldn't provide.

It depends on where you stay, I could have recommended some people I'm familiar with and who provides a decent service

No experience with them but I've used Sonic wireless and they charged me that amount (IIRC) and I could keep the hardware setup.

The problem with that is one WISP's hardware isn't compatible with another's. So i'd avoid being forced to buy hardware or pay a huge once-off fee for any kind of wireless setup. I'd rather sign a contract for 12 or 24 months and expect them to adhere to the CPA if service is dreadful

Nope, not in my case. I reset the Mikrotik, used it with another WISP and WUG.

Sonic also had the options to buy or rent over a set period.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. I'm in Harfield Village (next to Claremont) in Cape Town.

I did receive some other quotes from:
- KAB technologies
- Comtel

Much of muchness...
KAB is more expensive with higher contention ration
Comtel has a higher contention ratio... a little cheaper at R785 but then R2800 install and R183 rent to own p/m on the equipment.

Yip pity that good old Telkom couldn't provide but after my last dealings with them I want no more of their cr@p

Not always the case.

Compared to telkom users in my area, I have less downtime than any of them combined.

Just get a decent WISP.

I have used Easyweb and I get my full line speed with no problems, havent had downtime yet.

I agree with Sean999. I have used Easyweb with my previous employer and currently have it at my house.
I cannot fault them in any regard.

I am currently based in JHB North.

What are you guys paying?

They sent me a document with

1meg 599
2meg 999
3meg 1999
4meg 2999

That is just ridiculous!!!!!

Try BitCo, their offerings are very decently priced and I have no seen a bad review on them. As for downtime I tend to disagree as BitCo have a 99% uptime policy.

Are you 100% sure about "Unshaped , No Fair use policy"??

Chatted to the easyweb rep today, where did get these prices from? the 4mbps is closer to R2000, I am going to get the 2mbps uncapped option. what is attracted is the 1:1 contention, unshaped and NO FUP.
