eBucks changes infuriate FNB clients

I used to get roughly 1200 ebucks a month last year on a silver cheque acc now i get 70 ebucks on a platinum acc.

had the same prob .... fnb insist nothing wrong with the card, yet it does not work at any of the tills ... apparently the chip cards from fnb do not work(according to the pnp staff) .... eventually just gave up trying to withdraw cash at the till and reverted to the atm

same thing here i had to go back to the damn atm .... but as soon as i got home i called in made a fuss and
with ebucks then called the complaints department and lodged a complaint

I would encourage everyone to do the same lodge a complaint the more complaints they see the more
motivation it will give them to change ... and you need to call the complaints number to log an actual
complaint the regular call center doesnt do complaints.

Im just worried that capitec goes the same route as 20twenty did.

Why? Capitec is a fully fledged bank...not one of those "virtual" bank that uses another bank. If anything...it seems they are just going from strenght to strenght. And seriously....all these rewards crap is bleugh. I would rather take the saving I make on my monthly fee instead of having to swipe my card untill I am blue in the face to get to 10 000 only to find out that that is equal to like R10.00 lol.

the changes to the slow lounge are particularly pitiful. so debit orders don't count towards that 5 grand?

I can't complain about eBucks. Currently have another 5000 built up for basically doing nothing I don't normally do.

The changes are irritating as they have moved the goal posts and now it's pretty much impossible to reach the 15% off fuel/airtime bracket unless u willing to spend money on more FNB products/facilities over and above the ones that don't cost anything. Not worth changing banks for, but still irritating...

edit:
The eBucks changes don't affect me. What is irritating are these two changes:
- limited amount of free withdrawals
- minimum R5,000 in swipes before gaining SLOW lounge access.
That 5k in swipes sucks big time :wtf: One can still get into SLOW lounge free with a Platinum Credit Card, right?

to get in free with a platinum card you need to swipe the 5k. otherwise you pay R250 per visit.

Do u mean swipe the 5k on your platinum cheque card to get in with your platinum credit card??

edit: Just checked their 2012 credit card rules, so it's 5k on your credit card if you want to get in free to SLOW lounge with your credit card which is the one way one can qualify and then the other way is via a 5k cheque card spend .

Yeah, it's BS on the part of Fnb. They aren't encouraging responsible spending at all.

So how do you propose they raise the funds to fund your rewards? It costs money you know.

From:
  1. The monthly bank charges that I pay
  2. The transaction fees that merchants pay for all my card swipes
  3. The strike fees that all the companies pay to debit order from my account
  4. The difference between the interest they pay for the cash in my cheque account (less than 0.5%) and the interest they make from using my cash elsewhere
  5. The interest income on my various credit lines

Obviously more people were using this particular reward than they expected so they're nailing it down.
The minimum (salary) deposit to get a platinum account is R16500 . If you set a R5000 minimum limit in card swipes; then customers are encouraged to spend 30% (or so) of their income on swipes. Not bond, loan, car repayments or any other debit order (on which they make money). Just card swipes.

This month I asked for a 1000 Rand overdraft...

They gave me almost 50k :O

Just wanted to ask quickly...

If I use my overdraft facility and make sure that my balance isn't in the red before the last day of the month, how do they charge you for using it during the month?

Interest? And AFAIK - there is a overdraft free...as well as an initiation fee.

AFAIK FNB only charges you for the overdraft when you use it.

I think it's because they know when someone has an overdraft, it's very difficult not to use it.

I recently closed mine.

I believe that they charge you the R20 monthly fee if you settle the debt before month's end. I seem to recall FNB offering 55 days interest free, sort of like a credit card

Where on earth is the marketing consent indicator? I can't find it in any of the settings pages I check.

Wow 55 days is very cool

I read that it's only there if you've said that you don't want spam from them, if you once allowed spam they don't show it.
