eBucks changes infuriate FNB clients

You only by this "roughly" fee with FNB Credit Card annually

You do not pay for ebucks on Cheque accounts.

EDIT : Wifey got quoted R200 per year for eBucks on her CC quote

I have no idea what your first sentence means.

I don't pay for it on my credit card...

Oh good luck, you can do this, and if you are lucky enough not to have them crash your PC with their spam, wait till you see the sms'es. I received 7 sms'es (different ones) in one day at it's worst at all hours of the day.

Just yesterday I got a sms from Debonairs pizza for something or other... So it begins...

Whenever I see a sms come through, I read the first 5 words and delete immediately if it's an advert.

Yeah me too... what I meant in my post was, that I received 7 from FNB (for different products of theirs)!!!!!

sigh ... i was even told that i could use my chipped check card at a till to draw cash
and this wont be seen as a cash withdrawal but you try and draw cash with a chipped
card at any place!!! EPIC idots ... thankfully not all the time! but this was a major
fail on their side!

If you're not happy with something that's free, don't use it?

It isnt free, you have to pay a fee to qualify.
Im pretty annoyed with it because you have to spend more on your cheque card than you withdraw from the account each month. I dont withdraw too much but I also dont use my cheque card, why would I if I have a credit card?
Starting to get annoyed with FNB after having punted them for a long time.

Meh. I left absa for fnb this week. Guess I'll ride it out for now.

Im just worried that capitec goes the same route as 20twenty did.

had the same prob .... fnb insist nothing wrong with the card, yet it does not work at any of the tills ... apparently the chip cards from fnb do not work(according to the pnp staff) .... eventually just gave up trying to withdraw cash at the till and reverted to the atm

In reality 20Twenty was deliberately killed off by the slimy Standard Chartered. They reduced the quality of service, eventually closed everyone's account, then spent years threatening to sue their ex-20Twenty clients for banking fees they continued to charge on these non-existent accounts.

Capitec though is not even the same sort of bank as 20Twenty. They have a very different target market, which is all those people who were basically being robbed blind by the major banks.

ALways said yes to marketing, never received anything...

Meh - just noticed the new qualifying criteria for the Slow Lounge access on platinum cheque accounts. R5000 spend? Must it be on the card? Or just money out of the account again?

Pretty lame FNB. Why start by giving people great services, then gradually reducing it to suckiness? To gain customers and then keep them locked in?

Feeling pretty cheated right now.

I though out saving rate in SA was pretty low - now FNB is encouraging additional spending??

EDIT: I also don't see anywhere on the site whether I qualify for the Slow Lounge access in a particular month...?

FNB is becoming greedy. They signed up alot of clients recently with some superb offerings but want to get more out of people. Im currently on the Platinum cheque account but i dont meet the qualifying criteria of R16500 a month but was offered the upgrade in November and gracefully accepted but over the last 2 months have not been graced with any Ebucks or ADSL bandwith. That sucks cos im paying the R120 a month plus i have taken the Ipad deal. Really not great for customers anymore.

Why offer me a high end package then remove all the perks!!!

I will soon be downgrading back to Gold!

The eBucks changes don't affect me. What is irritating are these two changes:
- limited amount of free withdrawals
- minimum R5,000 in swipes before gaining SLOW lounge access.

I'd be seriously pissed at the marketing rule f I had an FNB a/c. Super lame.

“Clients will be able to continue earning eBucks, but may need to adapt your banking behaviour.
Screw that. The bank must adapt to *my* behaviour.

Probably card. These things are usually linked to visa/mastercard pmts. So stuff like EFT won't fly.

^Not a solid fact that, but pretty sure.

eBucks works great as long as you don't have any issues / queries. As soon as you need to deal with their support / customer centre, it becomes a nightmare.

The R150 annual fee to earn eBucks is only applicable to credit cards. They brought that in about 2 years ago I think. I cancelled mine earlier this year because there are limits on what you can earn and you are capped at 1% earn rate regardless of your account level. I then started channelling everything through my cheque account and I'm now on the 2.5% earn level with no cap and no annual fee.

As for the marketing consent, it doesn't really bother me since I have it on already in order to earn fuel rewards (which has always been a requirement). I was pretty sceptic at first (which is why I didn't earn fuel rewards for the first 6 months after they introduced it), but after talking to some other people who opted for it, I decided to give marketing consent and they have been pretty responsible with it thus far. They send the occasional email and for this year so far I might have received one phone call (if any). I can't say that I've even noticed the effect of turning the option on. Unlike my past experiences with Absa and Standard bank.

Yep, that would be card swipes

I've noticed that I haven't earned any eBucks for a while, I love this service so I don't mind getting spam.

Only problem is, I have no option to get the spam in Personal Details.

Strange
