Edge reading data from other browsers without consent

Microsoft =cia
Your opinion must remain fairly consistent in this for when your AV scans the same content or when multiple applications present your files and folders during save/load operations or ... well.. nope.

I'm just not getting why this is "news" or "contentious" other than certain people shouldn't be permitted to operate anything more complex than a potato....

Probably more related to the fact that you googled said item or visited a website with google scripts with one of your devices at some point.
No, that's the thing.. I didn't Google it (as in typing it)..
I have Google listening all the time as well as Bixby listening too..
Example: Bixby greets me when I first pick the phone up in the morning

That's the thing. I discussed a certain brand of dog food with someone in the office. I don't have a dog so i never googled it. And the next thing that popped up when i used the internet was ads for that specific brand. Never seen the ad before.
It happened quite n few times with different products.

I've noticed that I was already logged in to my Google account on edge yet I never logged in

Maybe Edge also copies encrypted session cookies when it "imports" customer data from other browsers.

What's next, transmitting encrypted session cookies to the muggership?

I was mistaken it was my MS account I didn't change my default search engine from bing.

I just discussed Nintendo Switch in front of my phone for a minute or two and tested the theory - got Kaaum takkie ads and dial-a-bed ads.
Check tomorrow

I just thought of something. I am using Google Home to control my smart devices. So i basically gave it permission to always listen for the "Ok Google" phrase. Even when my phone is in standby mode.
Maybe that is the problem.??

Got a win7 vm.

Edge installed itself without my consent. So in the mood to flag it as a virus.

Edge replaced IE, so to update IE (as they) it should install Edge.
People complain about ancient out of date browsers, and love chrome for being always up to date, then cry when IE tries to do the same.

open task manager > select edge browser > end task. kill it dead in its tracks

and yes its damn annoying having to deal with their advertising after an update. even this little balloon popup pointing to it a bit later.

tsek

I get a chrome ad every time I log into Gmail or open Google maps on Edge... it keeps telling me to install Chrome when Edge is Chromium.

use chrome for googles stuff and another browser with a different search engine for the rest?
