Elden Ring

Yip, hence why I said it was still a drag.

They do seem to be trying to encourage exploration, it's just a pity that they chose the same frustrating mechanics to do so because the world looks gorgeous...
Honestly I don't see ER being the type of game that will appeal to those who gave DS/BB a fair shot and were not fans.

Are you saying they are wrong with their rating then?
Not at all. Hence my clock anology.

All I'm saying is that if I were on the fence about buying the game IGN would be one of the last places I'd go to for an honest, well thought out review...along with the likes of Kotaku, Polygon, PC Gamer, Rock Paper Shotgun, Gamespot etc

I was going to give them game a skip because I'm not a fan of Dark Souls but watching this

I think it would be a mistake to not give this game a shot. The thing that caught me were "heavy RPG aspects" which is my favourite thing, it doesn't look like you have to face a boss and spend 3 hours redoing it until you perfect timing. You can go do side quests/explore for 3 hours and come back to kill the boss with better stuff/levels/spells making it easier.

I will still wait a month after release to make sure the game isn't broken.

In the SkillUp review he mentioned it took him 25hrs to get to the first boss because he fully explored the first area first.

Ag, just had to rev you chaps a wee bit :)

Seems like a bit of a drag...

Not that I was planning on playing Elden Rings, but this is the kind of thing that really turns me off any game. I play for enjoyment and to relax, not to deliberately frustrate myself. There's enough of that in IRL :)

But each to their own. Can't argue with the success of the Souls franchise and the like.

I feel you on not wanting to get frustrated which is what the reviews I have seen are coming out with. There is new player friendly way of playing and a hard core way of playing.

I have never raged as much as I did in Monster Hunter World and don't want that again.

Contemplating this game...Any idea if it would go on sale in June??

What does fromsoftware track record look like? Do they usually put new games on sale so early?

Waiting till I finish Dying Light 2 and D2 Witch Queen.

Time is a bit sparse at the moment as well.

I already have R1k credit on the PS Store. I dont want them to do what EA does, 1 or 2 months after launch, a brand new game will go on sale @ 40% to 60% off
Well Sekiro (not the goty) was released in Aug 2018 and about 10 months later it had 1x sale of 20% discount
