Emigration....... Are people serious

Currently i'm in I.T. Mainly a DBA but now in this position i do everything from patching the network cabinet up to getting us ISO certified (god help me)
Was teaching English in Thailand

Loadshedding is not the same as a power failure. Besides, loadshedding is only a symptom of much deeper problems.

In 12-13 years I experienced one power failure (in California) - it was a super hot day so everyone was running their aircon which overloaded the grid (apparently this may have been Enron manipulation!). Short of that I've heard of a few weather related outages, but haven't experienced them personaly. Non-SAffers I know (or expats) who haven't been to SA since the load shedding began are apparently shocked when they see it the first few times.

I know it was a joke, but that's a bit like saying that the problem with the western world is that you have to live among westerners. The country (and even many of the cities) is so big and diverse, that the American stereotype is actually pretty rare in reality.

Yeah, I had a power outage for about 5 minutes sometime last year. Really annoying. I was watching Netflix at the time. Very inconvenient.

Lived in Miami for a year. Struggled to find many Americans :p lots of Spanish roadsigns, mind you
