meh tell me something new. I got the same grief from Rafa cultists who had hissy fits any time anybody didn't predict nirvana under his tutelage.

So I take it you consider Downing, Adams and Henderson to be world class 8/10 first team regular type players :erm:

You still don't get it Alan.

1) You must understand we not in Europe, so your world class players will not be interested in coming to us not playing in Europe.
2) We need proven epl ready players to fill positions that we need now, not later.
3) We need depth to our non existing squad.
4) We in a re-building phase and looking at young talented upcoming players in the long term.
5) We are not a Chelsea/Man City and will never be.
6) You need to have faith in KK. he is a legend and knows the club through and through in what we need currently.

Do you need more reasons?
 
meh.

1)You don't need CL to bring world class talent to a club. Just ask Harry Redknapp
2)We have experienced Prem players in midfield already. No need to spend almost 50 million pounds buying more
3)KK himself said it's first team quality that counts more than squad depth. We have something like 8 central midfielders :rolleyes:
4)Yes recall the owners advocating the"buy youth" policy. It has after all proven so successful for Arsenal
5)You telling me they could not purchase a quality player for the almost 40 million they spent on Downing/Henderson. :erm:
6)Only time will tell. People said the same thing about Rafa

Well that's a surprise. He was player of the season.

Central midfield was our most settled and strongest area and now it's being totally overhauled and re-arranged :wtf:
 
If you look at the Downing deal, I think it was a calculated buy based on the player stats and what not.
Downing, even though often labeled as a slow, one-trick pony is apparently a very 'safe' buy based on his assists and number of crosses etc over the seasons. Not a flashy player but an effective one.
 
yeah I saw his stats. I bet you'll see plenty of long balls, Alonso style, to Downing out wide who'll whip it into Carroll to header home. That looks like the game plan.

I'd prefer a winger with more penetration. Look how Nani and Young turned Man City inside out. That's been key to united's success. Attacking wingers. We saw it with Chelsea under Mourinho with Robben and Duff and Pires with Arsenal. Not exactly "safe bets" those.

lack of penetration will be LFC's Achilles heel. Only Suarez and Gerrard can beat their man and create trouble by themselves. All the rest it's one paced and one dimensional.

Well after watching Benitez squandering millions on unsafe <mediocre> bets, wouldn't you rather go for a tried, tested and proven 'safe' bet.
And as we all know, decent English footballers seem to be a rare and very expensive commodity in the EPL.
 
Suarez is all the difference you need... oh wait I forgot you need to defend :D

to be fair he tried to sign Gareth Barry for around 20mill IIRC :p
 
Mariga is very close to a move to real sociedad, should complete the move after the international action. Fee is reported to be €6 million.

Inter are also to signing kucka from genoa. Talking about an €8 million fee.

The sneijder situation remains the same, if the club receives the right offer they will probably consider selling him but so far there has been no such offer. So we wait and see till august 31.
 
Eto'o seem very close to going to anzhi for €30 million euros, they are offering him €20 million a season. Inter wanted to keep him but he wanted a €2 million raise to stay. Crazy considering he already earns €10 mil a season after tax.

The clubs are meeting currently, inter's finance mister is there so deal is believed to be close. If he goes I doudt sneijder will go as well.
