Eskom - BEE to blame

Somewhere there's an article of an ex-Eskom technician who had to train his replacement AA candidate - anybody able to find it?

The root of the matter is that 10 years ago in a desperate attempt to undermine the noble ANC they deliberately left ghosts in the shell to pull the rug out from under the ANC's feet.

Hey! Don't brush that aside so lightly.

With the obvious lack of maintenance it becomes even more probable that a certain bolt was deliberately left lying around a certain nuclear reactor a long time ago.

Years past without maintenance and evenually the reactor started vibrating. The vibrations started the bolt moving. The bolt rolled into a turbine and the rest is history.

The saboteur (may I use this word or does Erwin have exclusivity?) knew that this would happen and had enough time to make good his escape.

BEE is to blame for allowing critical components in a supply chain to be provided by people who are unable to perform.

An an example of this sterling 'performance' can be found in places like home affairs, .............
Eat chicken while attending to clients, losing your one and only original copy of all personal documentation, ..... and all this could be forgiven if you eventually got what you went there to apply for and for which you have waited more than two years.

I've seen it on either IOL or News24.

I'm also an ex-Eskom employee, and can tell you that before I left SA a few friends (also ex-Eskom) returned under contract to a power plant we left to perform maintenance and other services, while the full compliment of the new maintenance department sat on their butts - no interest in learning a thing.
Pure window dressing by Eskum to gloat that they were the industry leaders in AA and BEE.
They no longer have these guys to call on, because they too have left.
The technical services departments have poorly qualified staff, with no experience and very poor work ethic which means they will never gain the required experience.

When I read posts like mechristian's I really do hope this country collapses to the medieval age - and back.

Then I will have nothing to lose, and one more tie keeping me to ZA will be gone.
And, people like that will finally get what they truly deserve.

Was that a typo ? :D

So what must happen now is that the local metros should cut power to the affluent areas where most of the capacity is abused.

Then those rich tokes would move to the poorer areas that have power and then the poorer areas get cut off as well...

...no thanks. I have no wish for that scenario, the rich buggers can stay where they are, otherwise they'll have to park their excess cars on my pavement...

OTOH, they can cut the power, then the rich buggers'll move, and then I can rent out two or three parking places on my yard at a premium :D :D :D

Looks like mechristian will be going on my ever growing list of ANC zealots whose arguments I'll be ignoring in future.

Don't feed the troll kids, just pretend it isn't there :D

No need to worry.
Those rich buggers will move abroad - and take their businesses with them.

Ox wagon (no oxen, sorry!) anyone?

Calling his posts "arguments" may be optimistic.

die makker is nie lekker in sy koppie nie!!

"Pik Botha subsequently served as Minister of Mineral and Energy Affairs in South Africa's first post-apartheid government from 1994 to 1996 under President Nelson Mandela."

AS PER RADIO interview yesterday and some broadcasts this morning - he said that when he got INTO (1994) Mineral and Energy Affairs - Eskom had a SURPLUS of 10 000 MW.

that didn't happen 1 in day - now did it..

From your spelling and commented example I think you talk of experience and need a break. Maybe someone should breaks your egghead.

Of course we inherited this over populated (Afrikaners) Eskom that was under performing as they catered mostly for the racist whites in the country.

I cant dispute that logic.... The NATS had 'jobs for friends' program, and I take it by your 'white' statement, you dont know the entite 'apartheid' story. English speaking people were mainly excluded from the Government echelons (yes, they did benifit by being white, and I am not defending or criticising Afrikaans or English people... it was the nature of the NAT party to place their own people in good jobs)

It is obvious that the system was not designed for the majority. We can see that with the current situation we find ourselves in.

I CAN dispute that. For one, Eskom mothballed, and then canabilised the power stations for spares.. as the dating equipment was becoming harder and harder to buy.

I dont care if its BBE/AA, but Eskoms mandate is to generate electricity.... NOTHING else! They have failed to do so... they rather EXPORT it and let YOU and ME sit in darkness.

ESKOM, with a generating capacity of 35 200 MW from 20 power stations. Currently 20% of those stations are offline! thats 10% 'surplus' and then 10% less. That is plain stupidity! Its has nothing to do with power delivery, THEY CANT GENERATE IT! It has NOTHING to do with growth.

So what must happen now is that the local metros should cut power to the affluent areas where most of the capacity is abused.

Can you define 'Abuse' -
If I PAY for a service from Eskom, how is it abuse? Thats the same logic as buying 1000 packets of chips from Pick n Pay and then being accused of creating a potato shortage.

What is electricity abuse? (in your view)
