Another example where our esteemed government failed - there are people out there who want to work, but they are hampered by education, not enough open vacancies or their circumstances.

And you know what? Those are the most deserving of AA, a commitment to work and the realisation how thankful you should be to have a job.

Agreed :)

I don't have any problem with that kind of AA candidate - if they are willing to work and show that they can do it.

My work takes me through some very poor areas. It's sad to see kids just hanging around at 10am on a weekday when they should be in school.

It's sadder to see that bloated (obese is a more appropriate word) politician in Parliament or a government offical blow $$$ on dinner when the poorest of the poor sit in a tin shack day in and day out.

And that is the main reason why I resent the current gauvament. Slap on all the extras like crime, rising cost of everything and just general lawlessness and the resentment turns to an intense disliking.

So to mechristian, maybe life has improved for you under the new government, but to millions of others, they gained their freedom and thats about all. As someone earlier stated, freedom doesn't put food in one's stomach.

I can tell you that it is most likely true - I have seen much the same for myself.
To compound this it's unlikely the specialist turbine team at Rosherville still exists - they would go to each of the power plants and carry out the Turbo/Generator overhauls.
If these guys are no longer available and a turbine shaft gets damaged, it's possible that they'd have to ship it abroad for repairs.

Unlikely, and in addition to changing the oil in these breakers, the contact tips also need changing after a set number of actuations, which is most likely also not being done, and the breakers are seeing more frequent actuation.
The oil is used for the arc extinguishing when the breakers open under load.

AA starts from the roots up. In my opinion, the biggest failure from our government has been the lack of a decent education amongst the blacks from a poorer background. This issue would solve much of our crime problems and would ensure that AA is not necessary.

Whites I have found are mostly not racist to blacks, they are racist towards incompetence. Our govt hasnt helped this much by promoting incompetent people into senior positions above the whites - just because they are black.

Please brother, listen and learn - think for yourself and make up your own mind thereafter. Thats all I have to say.

Well they should have been capable in the first place to get the job. But lets say they are not capable and require on the job training. These racist whites you are referring to were FIRED, LET GO, or RETRENCHED. What did you expect them to do - come back in their own spare time to train the guys who replaced them because they didnt know what they were doing?

BEE and AA have helped our country diddly squat because neither were implemented correctly. As a BEE compliant business owner, I can assure you that 5/10 non white appointments that we make are based on compliance and not ability. That person is trained for a considerably long time before they are handed responsibility. They also dont know that their appointments were based on colour and not ability, therefore they would argue just like you are at the moment about the merits of AA. They wouldnt however blame the old government of 14 years ago now for the mistakes of the current regime - they are much smarter than that. My black business partner is sitting next to me reading this and reckons you are what is wrong with South Africa - too many black people being brainwashed by what they hear on local radio, in church and in the townships etc and then spurting black on white racism back into our country. He also reckons racial power like AA and BEE makes you racist as evidenced by apartheid, and believes that our current regime has let power get to its head - read into that what you like..

well said cause you have a black partner who understands shows that yo are not rasict and actually want a btter future for all.That how it should be not this BS.We all in this together but ask yourself who will suffer the most if we turn to zim.I can promise you not the whites
 
have any of you see the book in CNA about women in empowerment and business in sa.eskom claim to be doing very well and say they results prove it.Why is hindsight not a lovely thing .you should read the book it is the biggest joke .but worse to me is what more ids going to be revelead over time?????
