Eskom can't take back white engineers without jumping through hoops

Ja De Poepol, maybe take your head out of your ass and consider the fact that THIS is exactly the reason why we cannot get pissed in a brewery. But please keep on considering transformation and by the time we have absolutely nothing left you would have at least made enough to go live somewhere else in comfort.
 
It's bizarre that a CEO would cite HR hurdles as a reason to not accept focussed, qualified help. Eskom is literally sinking, and this is his response. It can only be 2 things; one is he's not REALLy in control of the company and the decision-making, or two, he's completely incompetent and negligent. Both of these options are completely unacceptable, and in fact, since Eskom is a tax-funded company, there should be civil action against such a negligent director.

His ANC masters run the show when it comes to HR in that company.

They said it loud and clear from day one.
 
Why’s he in the job if his hands are tied? Just collecting a salary for not doing anything like all the BEE hires people complain about. He should leave and join the exodus.
 
I once had respect for De Ruyter.

He has lost all credibility by trying to please our corrupt politicians (ANC).

If we're being honest though, what do you think they will do when WHITE engineers are hired publicly.

These are weapon wielding murdering infrastructure burning racist savages we are talking about you know.

Eksdom's operations are the least of their concern.

I think this is one of the more egregious things BEE/transformation has resulted in; the loss of on-the-job skills and knowledge transfer.

They - ANC - have been, and are, so desperate to forcibly change the optics that they have caused a loss of skills and knowledge in critical areas that may never be reacquired.

Lecturers and textbooks cannot teach you everything.

Show me a South African company that is "fully in control of the company and the decision making", including hiring decisions, and I will show you a company that is not compliant with racist AA and BEE legislation and regulations, including an inspectorate that will report on that non-compliance on a regular basis. Furthermore, that company will be subjected to punitive economic measures because of that non-compliance with racist laws and regulations.

So, in fact it is the other way around: A CEO (or CE in de Ruyter's case) reports to the Board of Directors, and a Directors' role, as defined in the Companies' Act, is to make decisions which are compliant with prevailing legislation and regulations, and always act within the law (even if it's racist). The CEO cannot operate outside of his mandate as provided by the directors, or that provided bu relevant industry legislation and regulations.

So good luck with your civil action, here are the respondents' names and photographs:

It would be far more profitable, and have far better chances of success, to lobby for the repeal of the racist legislation and regulations, but considering that it ideologically aligned with the goals of the ANC, and the fact that it fills the stomachs of their connected friends, good luck with that too.

The Eskom board appears to be very highly qualified from those bios, de Ruyter stands out as one of the weakest links with his generic bio.

I don't know, and I don't care. Paper qualifications aren't worth much in a world where 30% is a pass. What's more important are their actions and inactions, how sound their decisions are, how dilligent they are, and how much they actually produce for the salary that the taxpayer pays them.

I like Makgoba who I seem to see is a medical man. Of what use are these qualifications in a "business" generating electricity? de Ruyter of course is a "businessman" and maybe that is good enough (qualification wise I think he is a BComm, LLB and maybe MBA). In some fairness to de Ruyter he may not have the mandate to generate electricity, just split Eskom into three ANC feeding troughs.

No wonder place is a mess.
