I think the point being made by the radio commentator is that its probably still too late to avoid a collapse.

I get the sense digging into the commentators online presense that the grid will need to collapse first before radical change and alteration will occur, the problem being with that is the national instability that could occur as a result.

The quality of work is such that some of those plants come out of maintenance, and they go straight back into breakdown

Said years ago they need to investigate the 'engineers/electrician/maintenance teams'... Can't keep blaming it on 'aging', there is a problem. If 12-15kMW is 'broken down' every week thats 100% of capacity offline every month. Big problem, and its not the hardware. Put another way, if your car is breaking down every month, its not your car thats the problem, time to find a new mechanic.

The situation at state power utility Eskom is dire and has pushed South Africa beyond the tipping point, Energy Thought Leader CEO Mike Rossouw has said.

With so much in house fighting in SA...there's no talk of recovering the monies that Guptas and Zama and family stolen...given them enough time to embezzling these hard earned funds of ours in other undeserving countries like Dubai..where stupid south Africans still visit and go spend monies there....let's come together wipe these parties and people off their regin ...and enforce equality through professional people in different facilities..take the highest qualified pay the huge salaries so no corruptions...no dealing with families and friends only with merit...let us at least see a beautiful SA before we pass on
