Your selflessness is admirable, but it would also be irresponsible from the electricity supplier and they would be opening themselves to a lot of lawsuits, I also have power cuts now and then, probably not as frequent as yours, power is a big deal to me.

Only those with prepaid (postpaid you haven't paid for anything yet). And it's not like their prepaid expires, they can get electricity when it comes on again. They suffer anyway along with everyone else during the loadshedding, which is in part due to Sowetos nonpayment and in part due to the repeated voting in of the ANC even after all the previous loadshedding, and other things.

I'm sure nonpayers do not care about using 100W incandescent bulbs and running heaters all day and whatever else, so they have a higher load than the person who pays.

Well, they are Eskom's single biggest burden and openly resist installing meters, so yeah, they definitely are entitled, no argument there.

Then why are we here moaning about loadshedding if it is that simple? Why can't we just be cool and wait for electricity to come back?

Because they should cut off those who don't pay, even if they have the means, then if doesn't need to happen that we who pay are inconvenienced as often or for shorter periods and maybe not even at all.

You supported someone's belief about only 4000 prepaid meters in Soweto, I just asked if there is a source to support the belief, that's all.
 
everything would be cheaper at the lowest payment level if everyone made an effort to pay instead of refusing to pay at all. part of the reason the cost of electricity goes through the roof for those few who do pay is because they are subsidising all those who don't pay. I don't mind some of my payment subsidising those who genuinely can't pay but I do mind subsidising those who could pay something and who won't, because reasons.

When my mother in law went away for a little bit her tenants bypassed her prepaid meter, she came back home and they were using the ovens to warm the house as it was better then the heaters, it's like wtf!!!! She had to get city power to come undo the tampering.

And yet the black population exploded under apartheid as if someone release a nuclear powered cum-cannon. People were streaming over the borders to come and work in a country where you were paid for your manual labor and even a "poor" life here was way better than the usual f***fest that is north, east and west Africa. Many even pursued and attained an education if they really wanted it. It wasn't easy of course, but neither was trekking into the center of a harsh country in the middle of nowhere using ox wagons to build a civilization while at the same time having to die by the thousands to keep the British from doing what they did best.

Here there was no slavery, many of the rural farm workers (which was the majority back then) did in fact have access to clean water, sanitation, immunization etc. as time went on. Even if it wasn't to the same standard as whites had. The vast majority of rural blacks were treated as "part of the family" while implicitly accepting and even propagating a hierarchy that the "white baas" was the patriarch. (and those of you who don't agree with this have no idea what you're talking about).

I also don't know why people think infrastructure just falls out of the sky if you're white. Are we to believe that if the black population started learning from western culture and started building their own pipelines, decent dirt roads (that could be upgraded eventually), sanitation solutions etc. etc. that the Nats will flock in with the Ratels and destroy everything because they're black?

All being said. The "white devils" mostly didn't want to hand over power because they knew it would be a f** up. But power was handed over anyway. And guess what? It's a f*** up...

But sure. Yes, it wasn't a moral system and it was unsustainable given the change in western culture around the world. But let's not kid ourselves into thinking that doing the right thing will ultimately result in the best outcome.

What a mouthful. Looking at my own life, it is a lot better than my forefathers. My kids, if they work hard, should have it even better than me. So while the country went backwards yes, democracy meant a better life for many.

The ANC is a f up yes, that still doesn't excuse apartheid.

It's not about excusing apartheid. It's about the complete and utter stupidity of using modern sensibilities to try and judge the past, and worse yet, then carrying over the "sins" of the past to present day retribution.

This means that if CoJ are given prior notice, they can request the Kelvin power station in Kempton Park to provide power to the city which is enough to save us fm Stage 1 loadshedding.

Funny, that's exactly how we feel when people blame us for decisions made by people from the 1940's just because we share the same skin color..

Wait, this is the same stand up community which attacks municipal/eskom employees installing prepaid meters, right?
