Eskom adds 930MW to the grid

Eskom has successfully synchronised Koeberg Nuclear Power Station's Unit 2 reactor to the national grid, adding 930MW of capacity to South Africa's energy mix.

This follows a planned outage during which maintenance critical to securing a life extension for the reactor was completed.

Should they do it when most of their staff are on leave though?

@Lupus

One done.

Medupi and Kusile to go. A decent start to 2025. I am positive that they will come alright.

The one uncertainty remains Mozambique.

Well done to Eskom,, the fact that we never felt an impact all along while it was offline says a lot about the general reliability of their fleet.
I'll tentatively state that the end of load shedding was possibly the most significant event of the year. The impact of which, in the short term anyway, far outways the elections and the results of said elections.

I see. So just being negative for the sake of it then?
No, I know that unit 1 is not complete because eskom is incompetent and needs to be taken offline to complete the work that should have been done in the first place as per mybb article I read a while back but too lazy to look up.

Just to humour you, I read the article and it mentions nothing which just reinforces the reason why I didn't read this srticle in the first place, our stellar levels of journalism in this country. If it was the high level I demand, they should have mentioned unit 1 in this article which they didn't.

Well they wanted to it with the refueling.
Plus they couldn't really do it with the last outage cause of unit 2 needing to go off.
Though unit 2 didn't really give much of a choice.

Here's some more info.

Clickbait title.

ESKOM RETURNS supply to the power grid.

Adding implies that there is more.

Where are the 25 GW that are out of commission

but you agree with my assessment that its too early to celebrate and this article is a big nothing burger, a bastion of za journalism?
