Eskom warns intense cold front will put strain on power grid

Didn't happen (yet) this week, but another massive (TM) cold-front will affect the country next week (by Thurs 22nd).
The cold front didn't happen this week???

Also note that governments stupidity is preventing me from buying fuel in a container to run my generator when eksdom cant supply power.

How? Everyone else here could go buy fuel in a can.
Here they prevented a lot of this but after a decent chunk of people called them out for it they have stopped preventing it. But it's more like one canister 5L or so per person, no hoarding of fuel since there is little to go around.

Feedback from Evening peak: 15/07/2021 @ 18:12
Total Demand: 32 923MW
Virtual Power Station: 53MW
Eskom OCGT’s utilized: 14
IPP OCGT’s utilized: 2
Renewable Generation: 562MW (Wind 242MW, CSP 320MW)
Available Generation Capacity: 33 816MW

Hopefully we have enough diesel for tomorrow.

Warning issued earlier this evening (I didn't see it).

5 litres will see a generator through a couple of hours at least, so that's something.

It's a Friday night, demand normally drops a good GW or more, plus we did actually have over 31GW available and they used 7 OCTGs for a buffer by the looks of it. Wind and CSP generation are doing admirably, yet people think it's the solution at peak times sigh.

Also, KZN isn't using power now, everything is burning or closed.

There will be no red alert sent tonight, seems declared availability is up again.

Hope we make it through the eek without shedding. Bitterly cold conditions expected starting Thursday.
Yeah, generation has been lower this weekend, even though Friday was pretty good.

Bit of red tonight
