Esquire PriVio Light Tips, Tricks and Comments

Mmm seriously considering this.

Initial drawback is that it doesn't natively support .mkv files, but then I don't have too many of them anyway.

Should be good for series and movies in .avi files.
Is Esquire still selling these units?

yep, they still are.
the mkv issue aside (and a issue with mp4 files) it plays great.
i bought the unit and added on a 500gb hdd - and its more than enough for me.

Thanks for the reply, I'll be dropping my 1TB in it take it from there.

Just wanting to get rid of PC bits now, brother's netbook can help me along till I get my own lol :D
 
ran into strange problem, jpg's in photo/pics folder wont read, but jpg included in movie folder work. ive check file names formats etc and they are fine, except wont read. anyone with similar problem?

Yip - I've also had it where I've placed series under the TV series folder and they won't read. But as soon as you place them under the movies folder all is fine again :(
 
Nah i have movies folder - movies work, have a tv folder - tv series works, photo folder - dont work
 
again, problem. adding new files/folders in movie folder, now shows no content. have checked filenames for invalid characters and all are ok. anyone have solution to problem?

do your files exceed 20 in a folder?
And are you folders more than 3 deep?

the above are known issues.
 
no folder is 3 folders deep, and not more than 20 files in a folder.
i get it working again by creating a new folder & moving movies from old folder to new created folder, then it owrks.
seem like it reads folders & saves/caches folder info & when u add something new it just wont show anything till i move all to a new/different folder.
 
Player not connecting to pc

I've just bought the Pri Vio Light with a 1TB hard drive. My problem is that the lcd screen does not display anything and when connected to my pc, it is not even picked up.

Should I return it and get another one? or will this be easy to sort out?
 
lol, will prob do the same, Mede8er or home theater pc, cant decide.
 
Not happy with my one - power supply blew and they say it was lightning damage, but no storms when it was in use (unplugged when not in use)
 
Well I have just bought a PriVio Lite (no pro available) and i downloaded the firmware and tried to flash as described but it still shows the same version BUT what it did do is show that the hard drive with 200 movies on is empty but on the POC it has the movies and the ONLY way i can fix this was to reload the movies which takes forever.

I wouldn't buy this again if i had to - I would rather spend 3 times as much and not have to reload my HD twice as the first time i thought it was just something with the HD.

Perhaps someone can tell me #1 why it shows no movies and #2 why it isn't flashing.
 
Flashing is easy, done 2 of them with no problem.
No idea why its not showing anything on hard drive although i had problems before when adding new content, I just dragged over to a new folder.
It seems it does not update content when adding, try creating new folder & just moving it over to new folder, plugin privio & see if it shows movies.
Ah, also your filenames should not contain certain forbidden characters else you wont see anything. This is common with file downloaded from torrents.

I had about 200 movies on and it did show them when i got it. then i added more then i saw nothing so i formatted and tried again. Nothing shows though it picks up the drive and you can select it and it is NTFS. Then i tried flashing and that was it. I took it back today and they will test it. Real pain cos it was looking promising lol

Hi there

the reason it is not updating to the new firmware is that those units came in by air last week and already have the latest firmware , the reason why you not seeing your movies is that some of the files contains illegal characters $#*:" rename those files and it will work , also make sure that you do not have more than 3 folders deep , and not more than 300 files per folder

I just got the source codes from the manufacturer and will look into re-writing the firmware here in South Africa or see if we can improve on the current firmware and will keep you posted when it is ready
