Esquire - Selling EU layout keyboards in US layout boxes

So I started reading this and so funny. Why buy from esquire. they have to pay me to buy anything there. They so crap I won't even let my worse enemy get stuff there. I alwyas buy from Pinnacle Africa. Never has any issues with them. They always return my stuff without even doing proper tests

Thats what Matrix Warehouse does also so never used them again and got a refund on my monitor and bought a Samsung 32" instead and had to use the CPA act as a threat :D.

They never even sent it to the supplier since I facebooked the supplier and they said they never receive stuff to be checked by Matrix lol.

Well esquire have changed plenty dude, they used to sell rubbish and never carried quality stock but one thing they have always been good with vga cards, i recall buying my 9800gx2 from them for 4999 ex vat, the other suppliers were all over 6.5k, the card was dead on arrival and they replaced it after testing. Granted the testing guy blamed windows vista and they only had xp installed so i had to install windows xp on my pc to get the same result and then go show him look it freezes. Card worked for two years before it retired :D

They carry quality products now, i dig their shop though, so much easier than ordering, paying via eft. Walk in grab what you need and pay. Esquire has a bad name but i reckon they have done plenty to try and change that.

Would you post on hello peter or this forum if you didn't try fix the problem though? anal people who just run to websites before they have even attempted to resolve the issue.
OP didn't know it could be fixed. I can be wrong though, it is wasted opportunity then...

Actually my last few swapouts went without a hitch at the Midrand esquire, one even out of warranty was repaired for gratis. So IMO their service has picked up since the Esquire of old

Has anyone ever looked at the Esquire profile on company news, some interesting reading IMHO, I’m yet to see Axiz, Rectron , Frotosa do so much for the community as these guys do.
I must add that enjoy dealing with Esquire in Milnerton , Graham and Treslin are fantastic even Frank when he was down here.

Keyboard was replaced with the correct one, took a bit long to do the swap, +-40 minutes, but it's done.

People are always having issues with Esquire, the Cape Town branch is exactly the same.
They don't mind selling things, but just you bring it back... Joh!
I actually bought a 8GB flash drive at Esquire, got home, found it broken, haven't bothered to take it back because of the endless drama I know I will have with them.

Same. Sitting with a UPS which they say isn't faulty even though it fails to work on my premises. They should have swapped it out, or given me another brand when I asked. Wasn't worth the argument that was going to be be necessary to get a fair deal. I am not convinced that the occasional savings add up to much in light of this. It's a shame, in the long term, it will count more heavily against them than me.

You've clearly never tried to return or swap anything at Esquire
+1 Had to have a HDD swapped once. Got it for ~R100 cheaper than anywhere else...spent a 2-3 times that in petrol getting it sorted out.

I was actually at Esquire today trying to buy something...no joy...CEO nuked my account (online and in-store) after I asked to be removed from the mailing list. Fckin lol...

Props to Chantel though...she was really determined to help me. At some point though you just decided...screw it I'll pay the extra R10 per item at rebeltech/wootware etc.

idk they seem to have a disproportionate number of really dedicated staff (compared to other places)...yet somehow the overall experience still ends up being decidedly....

EDIT: In fairness...the OCZ Vertex I bought from them was a solid 10% cheaper and is still going strong.

Is this thread heading for the Bermuda Triangle? Let's wait and see...

@HavocXphere
I can confirm that your account was closed and details all have been moved to xxxxx, the reason for this is that you demanded twice on the forum to be removed from the mailing list , unfortunately the only way to remove you permanently was to closed your account and deleted your login profile from the Online store as well , as we update our email records on a weekly bases (from our Financial system and New Online registrations)

We register an average of 50 new applications per day and have to update our mailing list to add the new applications to get our weekly specials and communications.

To remove your details every week once we update our email base is just not possible as it is done manually and is not an automated process , if that for that very same reason you were added again once you removed the first time

Somewhat bewildered by the whole setup (e.g. how do you ever plan on making the unsubscribe button work if ppl can't be removed from mail lists) - but I've made my peace with it. I hope others have a better experience with it than I did. :)

Agreed, I went through the same bewilderment when my account rug was pulled from under me at the simple request for unsubscribing. Strange. These days I make do with other awesome online stores for my requirements.

In fairness to Esquire, it seems the keyboard was incorrectly packaged by the vendor, not them. And they did swap it out once the facts had been established.

The sad thing is, dishonest people ruin the world for everyone. MyBB has countless posts by people boasting about or nonchalantly advising others to dishonestly or even fraudulently return goods damaged by user negligence or abuse. Distributors often carry the cost themselves because vendors require RMA screening tests at plant, with carriage at disti's cost.

I can understand why many importers/disti's have strict controls and checks in place for returns.

Glad all is sorted.
