eth device here soon?

Probably to end of next week or end of October. They are not satisfied with the device fully so there are a few updates being done - that's what my source says.

Just called them & they said 1 November, which is a Saturday by the way. sigh :(

Will there be new pricing / packages etc?

Yes apparently there will be, but my inside informant ;) tells me their will be no uncapped option available on the new devices.

/me curses neotel for their lack of foresite :p

IF it's true that they wont offer uncapped with the new devices, then they are idiots/morons/gluttonous pigs. Really, they were supposed to make things better. From te beginning I was on Neotels side, making excuses for them and telling people that Rome wasnt built in a day - but neither was it built on a follow the leader (Helkom) attitude. Bestc omparison would be Sony of late - huge potential that was f*cked up coz of greed. W@nkers!

Oops, maybe i should have said no uncapped on the new devices immediately at launch. I am sure they will eventually start offering uncapped but from what i am told (note this is not a fact, but heresay) there will not be any new very high usage (plus 30GB) packages launched and you won't be able to use the new device on the prime package, but once again this is not a confirmed fact. I am also a bit dissapointed if this is the case, because i was simply hoping to swap/purchase the REV A device and use it on the package i am currently on.

We will just have to wait until neotel gives us an official breakdown on the new packages and devices. Simply put...wait and see.

I can understand their reluctance to offer uncapped with the new device. It would make it far easier to share the connection with many computers at a time and so would probably increase the data that the average person uses cause now you can have 3 people watching Youtube videos at the same time. For wireless data they aren't that bad. For high end packages they are still much, much cheaper than MTN or Vodacom. All is not lost :)

I for one won't be lynching anyone yet, based on just hearsay.

But with that said: God help Neotel if the don't offer uncapped prime packages on the new ethernet device.

They have been spared a consumer lambasting despite:
- a tiny coverage footprint,
- lack of usage tracking interface and allegations of incorrect usage billing, and
- a perceived progressive general slowdown of "NeoConnect Prime" service speed, as more users have been coming aboard.

but I fear this might be the straw that breaks some poor camels back.
I hope you're taking notes, Mr. Neotel Representative.

PS : While this is a fair attempt at justification, it is flawed in my opinion, as the connection can still only handle the maximum throughput 2.4mbps/700kbps/whatever no matter how many monkeys you have watching YouTube. If you sell someone a uncapped 2.4mbps service, surely it shouldn't matter what device you use to access it...

Or maybe I'm growing idealistic in my old age... I digress.

You guys complain about everything huh? Neotel are doing their best to provide you lame South Africans with internet access but all you do is bash them. Have patience or sign up with hellBurst or Hellkom.

People based on the launch I attended this is going to be a new PRODUCT altogether!

With two new packages,pricing....and bundles.

How about posting a picture of the device. Wont tell, promise :D
