I've heard rumors that neotel has received shipment of some ethernet devices and are testing it before making it public available.

Can Neotel rep maybe confirm this?

i just wish i could get signal in my area, the nearest signal is like 5k's away.

I wish i could get my speed back, in the time i have had neotel my speeds have more than halved and i supposedly have excellent coverage. I have a sneaky suspicion they are limiting my downloads.

I wish they could update their coverage map. I want to see those orange blobs grow!!!

I wish they charge R100.00pm for 5GB at 3mbps

Sorry! I am unfortunately not a Neotel rep; but I can tell you there have been quite a few devices tested for Neotel, one is a Wifi AP with a build in 1x modem; others are more generic ie. Wifi AP with USB which are compatible with Neotel devices as well as GSM devices...

I have responded on this previous; please check out the link below in this forum...

I am sure if you email through the question Neotel would be more than happy to respond back.

The suggested retail price for that router is around $250 and presumably they will still force their customers to purchase the brick! I doubt that there will be many takers at that price.

agreed, but i am sure they must have some lower end units. That router is pretty high tech. What with the wireless n etc

For more information about this router.

Dude this modem is for corporates. It supports load balancing!! I cannot rally think that alot of people would use this feature in their personal capacity.

If I can get an ADSL router that supports loadbalancing and a static IP I would not be using WebAfrica to host anymore! The route with the loadbalancer would really help!

Testing and selection of devices is certainly happening at Neotel. We also continue to appreciate suggestions and pointers - keep posting. Maybe we should actually start a wish list - there is certainly a long list of possible features to choose from, though there will always be compromises.

The point of testing devices is obviously to launch new products - but we don't yet have specific launch dates available.

Du Pont Telecom, the supplier of Neotel's current phone is a distributor for Axesstel equipment so it's hard to understand why they didn't launch with a full range of products i.e. modems, phones and routers.

Du Pont has robust relationships with the premier OEMs and supplies devices from the world’s leading manufacturers including Axesstel, Epivalley, ITS Telecom, Techfaith, Telular and Wavetramp; as well as leading PABX manufacturers including Alcatel, Siemens, Samsung and many others.

I agree with this, but will it really be viable?

I've heard from someone in the industry that Neotel is selling ethernet devices already.

@Neotel: can you please confirm or deny?
