I have a friend that holds your view points. As I tell him, constantly...if you feel that you are being blamed constantly and it affects you, and surely it does...than somewhere in your psyche something is touching a nerve. Internalise and go find the nexus of that nerve. We agree, that we lived under an illusion of a Rainbow Nation...not really understanding the inherent societal trauma we have not dealt with and sort of wished we would not have to face. I am a firm believer in truth...no matter how painful, how dirty or shameful.... it puts you on the road of recovery...and puts all in perspective.

Anyone with half a brain could have and likely did make the same predictions. At the time swart gevaar was a big thing in Africa, all the **** that happened to the North gave a good template for the future where white is considered the reason for every person's problems. It's happened before and will happen again, the difference is that the general population in sa are not all that populist. Main reason is talking so long and may yet be averted is that most of the population now have the history/information at their fingertips. In this country propaganda requires pottingers to pull off. The fall of the Soviet Union bought the ANC to the negotiation table. They would have never agreed to pesky things like property rights that limit state power if their Soviet masters were bankrolling them.

It isn't apartheid's fault that Eskom is a failed SOE, with billions of debt owing. Sure, it got worse after 1994 but from 2008 is when it really nosedived.

It isn't apartheid's fault that the social grant system nearly completely failed, which would have resulted in nearly 20 million people without any money at all - in other words, mass rioting.

It isn't apartheid's fault that even today there are problems with delivering textbooks to schools. Even today, schools are built and then collapse in as little as a year because they were built be BEE partners and not competent companies.

It isn't apartheid's fault that the rule of law is not respected in South Africa and corruption is not punished. Jacob Zuma, the Guptas, the former NPA head, Malusi Gigaba who lied under oath (a crime that would land us in prison), should I carry on?

It isn't apartheid's fault that the money lost to corruption is estimated to be in the BILLIONS of Rand per year.

It isn't apartheid's fault that every single SOE - with the possible exception of Telkom - has got worse over the years since the end of apartheid. The Post Office - dumpster fire. Eskom - mentioned above. SASSA - also mentioned above.

It isn't apartheid's fault that COUNTLESS municipalities outside of the DA run Western Cape fail their audits every year because they spend all of the money on luxury vehicles and parties.

So all the mineral riches of this country that where extracted by black miners on the back of labour laws that forced black people into the cities- all that wealth that helped white people attain their current position in the socual hierarchy - you have no issue buggering off and taking it with you ? You reaped the benefits of a first world society on the tip of Africa in a skewed system that favoured you in all things. And you know what - you can - you have the freedom to go anywhere in the world you want to and take your first class education with- just don't think that the rest of this country owes you your own little enclave within SA borders.

Because the ANC has failed to grow the economy over the last 24 years. Look at our economic growth compared to other developing countries and you will see the problem. We had decent economic growth in the Mandela and Mbeki years but then your ANC destroyed it.

That is why we still have social grants.

We don't need BEE and never did - it is purely a tool to create a new black elite, which it has succeeded in doing. But BEE was never designed to help the millions of black people who need it - it was made to make them think the ANC is doing something for them.

We already have so little of what we reaped, yes under circumstances that shouldn't have been. Now however I am being punished for it, royaly f,ucked around every corner just because of what those who came before me did, but sure give us nothing and take from us everything.
