Just watch Sky. They've had this on their news all morning. And already the question was asked, how will it affect the safety of the game supporters if there are racial killings and/or an all-out racial war in the country. A bit exagerrated yes, but I think a sizeable number will cancel their trip.

Carry on... you are convincing me that my initial perception of your intelligence was extremely inaccurate.... the newspapers are doing exactly what you are doing. Using "kill" as it sounds so much "better" than "shoot". The fact that the direct translation means "shoot the boer" means you were incorrect in correcting my earlier post. Case closed.

Let me get this right..Some people find it absurd that people would cancel their visits to South Africa when a white supremacist is murdered at the same time that a racist extremest is calling for the murder of whites? WOW, that is absurd! :D

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - South Africa's ruling party on Tuesday defended the singing of an apartheid-era song with the words "Kill the Boer" in a row that has raised fears of increasing racial polarisation.

The African National Congress dismissed a ruling by a regional high court last week that uttering or publishing the words would amount to hate speech and violate the constitution put in place after the end of white minority rule.

"These songs cannot be regarded as hate speech or unconstitutional," ANC Secretary General Gwede Mantashe told a news conference. "Any judgment that describes them as such is impractical and unimplementable."

The recent singing of the song by firebrand ANC youth wing leader Julius Malema, who argues that black South Africans have not benefited enough from 16 years of democracy, drew anger from whites and other minority groups.

The lyrics of the song, sung in Zulu, translate as "kill the farmer, kill the Boer", referring to the former ruling white minority.

Interesting post - At least complaints of willingness to incite genocide have been sent to the UN by minority parties.

Too late the critical mistake was made years ago when the ANC was embraced by useful idiots. A mistake they repeated after doing exactly the same thing with Mugabe.
 
Hysterics and bigotry aside, ET killing just highlights (due to his "prominence") the fact that we do have serious issues. And the ANC's actions the last few months have increasingly left me nonplussed and worried about the future. There is definitely a growing sense of disillusionment among most people I know - people that are fair and just and tolerant, and not looking for any excuse to cry wolf and slant SA/Africa/blacks. Any one issue/fact/problem can be sugar-coated or sun-rayed™, but the overall sentiment and worries are real - and therefor important. Interesting times ahead.

You realize that when certain words strung together change the meaning of the sentence entirely right? And Kill / Shoot . You're pretty much dead after both.

These arguments get more and more absurd and are really unnecessary as they bear no relevance to the Eugene story but you force me to respond. Basic understanding of the English language would give you the knowledge that kill and shoot are not nearly the same. You can be shot and still be alive. You are not necessarily dead. If you are killed you are dead. Do you guys think before you type?

Semantics . The intent, when you shoot someone, is generally to kill them.

AFAIK the song doesn't say "shoot the boer in the legs".
