Line rental is cheaper.... I'm sure the cost of a 4MB ADSL line is R425 whether you on capped or uncapped bud

...Sorry...my mistake...im talking "adsl line" here....I'm taking the 100Gig CAPPED bundle...a saving of +-R200 on my adsl line ( not "line-RENTAL" )

Rather that than being stuck with MWEB for 2 more months :D

You will be paying that anyway! So I do not follow the argument at all. If You cancel today you still have to pay for August and September. That is a total of R539*2= R1078 instead of 539+29=R568 if you downgrade a 4MBPS premium account. So the difference I can pay towards my new ISP bu end August.

Personally i think, that if mweb could just give us a "more or less" idea ( as they MUST have SOME sort of "average-download" from "uncappers" ) of the amount of gig PER DAY that could be available for download, it would help a lot NOT to hit ( or at least TRY ) to hit the "Throttling-stage"...wheather its a 1, 2 ,4 or 10 gig line...hence the reason I'm going for the 100gig CAPPED line at Afrihost...

They should clearly define it like all other ISPs having used rolling windows.

Problem is they have no intelligent system. If I have not done any downloading for months and suddenly I require to update a few games from steam then I will be thrown in he abuser jail. That in itself is totally unfair.

with Afrihost, you can get a BUNDLED account ( Uncapped + adsl-line)....meaning you pay LESS for your Telkom adsl line. With OPENWEB....well...your ADSL-line STAYS with Tellkom (or your previous adsl-line holder)

Having a bundled line is almost as bad as using your ISP's email :D

Mweb gave me such fright with THEIR uncapped account...i'm totally OFF "uncapped"-ideas now...honestly. Worst experience EVER for a "first timer" regarding UNCAPPED :erm:

Good time to get a trial for WebAfrica, Afrihost or Openweb :)

I'm a lucky recipient of the slow down letter. Now looking at my options...

Currently on Mweb premium 2Mb uncapped for R369.

Have seen posts here that Openweb's gold uncapped is a good alternative with no throttling. But also looking to possibly upgrade to Telkom's 4Mb uncapped for almost the same price as I'm paying now.

Question is how much shaping/throttling is happening on Telkom's do products?

So if you had a car accident while learning to drive you'd stop using cars forever?

Shaping >> Almost non-existant (day or night)
Throttling >> +-450GB (4MB account)

Thanks! That's actually perfect for me since I'm averaging about 230GB pm on my 2Mb line atm with mweb. So will basically get double the speed and usage for about R30 more pm.

I'm thinking about openweb standard uncapped. Can anyone tell me how browsing/youtube; Average download speed is during office hours?

big difference....at least i can take the car for a "test drive" before bying it :p
Also, i know a little about "cars"...but NOTHING about "uncapped. If you have noticed, mweb DOES give you a "test" acount, but only for 7 days...usually the s**** hits the fan after TEN days ( give or take )
at least i admit....i'm a total "newbie" when it comes to uncapped...
