My OpenWeb account was activated today (Gold Uncapped Leon Edition @ 299pm). Fastest speeds I have ever had, torrents running at full speed, YouTube videos don't buffer. Mind = blown.

Thanks! That's actually perfect for me since I'm averaging about 230GB pm on my 2Mb line atm with mweb. So will basically get double the speed and usage for about R30 more pm.

If you ask for the 25% discount your 4MB line + Uncapped + voice should cost around R740.

I upgraded to 4MB in June and my bills for July and August have been just over R600. Which is less than the R740 I was told I would end off paying. But hey who am I to look a gift horse in the mouth :whistling:

Call 10210, take option 5 (I think). It will get you to the options centre or cancellations. Tell them you want the 25% discount. Voila 25% off your line rental.

Done, thanks for the tip. But there is a small catch as it's a 12 month agreement that if you cancel your ADSL line before the 12 month period ends you get charged 10% of the outstanding line rental. Not too bad as I do not foresee giving up ADSL anytime soon yet.

So in theory the most you would ever have to pay is about one months rental should you cancel? Does not sound that bad to me, the 25% saving would cover that after a few months would it not?

Moved from 1MB MWEB "premium" to 2MB standard with Openweb 2 months back. For only R10 more. Never looked back :)

Update, I got through to the correct department finally. Everytime I phoned from home, they detect a problem on my line, whatever that means, I've asked a few people.

In any case, the only why to get helped, phoned cancellations, and ask them, they are the ONLY people thta will assist you with this

Question is how much shaping/throttling is happening on Telkom's do products?

I can vouch that they will sometimes throttle specific protocols, like torrents, during business hours, but that's only infrequently. I've been having great service so far from them.

10 days to go, and I will be an EX MWEBBER.

Feedback ... well, my new ISP has some issues sure, but .... I can enjoy the net.... He doesn't blame me for his issues, usually that honour goes to Telkom... and my new ISP does not treat me with impunity ... he can say sorry and admit he was wrong.

I have certainly TRIED to remain with MWEB but my efforts have proven futile ... so, like many of you, will simply move on and find other good ISPs.
