Ex-MWEB Uncapped Subscribers Feedback

That's amusing ...

In the Mweb threads there are moans about the moaners. So when we start our own "ex" thread they come and haunt us here. Just leave us alone already! We hate f*ing Mweb.

Just have a look at all his posts, why would someone with no affiliation with MWEB spend so much time defending them? Its just about all he does.

Hey guys, I have an afrihost 10gb and 1 free for R195. I also have openweb gold, telkom 5gb and mweb 3gb. Openweb works as well as afrihost for browsing and d/l after hours. Telkom is fast for everything except mweb sites, and mweb is just for blops but is still shaped (even though its more expensive than afrihost and axxess unshaped)??!!

Bottom line, the mweb is only there till there is peering with telkom and mweb, then its gone, as is the afrihost as openweb is just as good for browsing...

I just though I'd compare uncapped shaped, with capped shaped and capped unshaped... Lol. Why?

Because I CAN :p

Getting back on track....

@biometrics. So after 6 days, how are speeds generally? Especially during the day, in particular, streaming?

I'm not at home during the day mostly. Last week I was on the 1st and streaming was working though not all full line speed, but it worked. At night it streams at full line speed.

I did a 10 GB usenet download Thursday night and also 5 GB Saturday afternoon, both times at full line speed.

So it's still a bit early to tell, but so far I'm much happier.

Keep in mind I'm not trying to run 24x7 downloads. I'll be happy with around 100 GB per month (per connection - remember I've got two with this account).

Oh wow. You're right. Every single post (pages of it) are about Mweb. Every single one. The last time it wasn't about Mweb was more than year ago. Of the last 100 messages only 4 were not about Mweb.

Smells ...

Ok, well that is what I am interested in. Not really cared about p2p, etc. Mainly the http stuff only including streaming, and voip. Though it would be nice to know how the day time performance is outside of weekends. Thanks.

I can leave my home PC on and VNC to it during the day. Have you got a set of tests you'd like me to run?

Yip - and notice how he has cleaned up after himself in this thread - don't want any bad publicity if it does come out that he is a MWEB employee.

Are any of you guys playing WOW? Hows the speeds with openweb and AH capped?

If my exchange is upgraded to 10MB - I'll be really keen to try out the AFTER HOURS UNCAPPED AND UNSHAPED ADSL from Openweb... at the moment Gold is doing just fine - just have to hold thumbs it lasts... I haven't checked the speeds of office hour downloading yet.

Aren't there forum rules against this type of thing?

Well it would be nice to know how youtube streaming was and doing at saix speed test (http://games.saix.net/bandwidthmeter.php). As it is IS, the peering should be fine in general with SAIX.
Then I would be curious how www.cnn.com streaming was like... there are usually a lot of easily accessible vids around on their site.
If you are happy with that over a few days... say a week, then I certainly think I will also try one of their accounts.

Promise? Because I really don't like MWEB fanboy's - 1,016 posts mostly defending MWEB... apparently their service is so good they need this defence.

I even quoted it for you.

For the conspiracy theorists. I wonder which one is more likely:

1: I'm an officially paid MWeb employee whose job description is to lurk in open, public forums( where other official MWeb reps are present) and post pro-MWeb replies in every thread, despite there being many other MWeb customers who are happy with the service and despite my replies being factually accurate and despite my replies including only generally, publicly available information which is available to everyone. My boss monitors these forums to check that I'm doing my job. I need to post at least three pro-MWeb replies per day to get my salary. I chose not to START threads supporting MWeb as this would be too obvious. I get bonuses for posting in ex-MWeb threads.

2: I'm such a crazy-loyal and super-happy MWeb employee that I choose to spend all my free time (or work time?) on these forums, supporting my great employer. There is already an official presence, but I love MWeb so much I just can't help myself. However, MWeb itself doesn't know that I'm here, so I have to ensure that I always behave in a good, responsible way and that I don't ever reveal any private information or company secrets so that they'll never find out. I must also make sure that I don't reveal myself to the official MWeb reps.

3: I'm an MWeb customer who is generally happy with the service they provide. I dislike unfair or deliberately skewed criticism. I dislike the malicious (or otherwise) spreading of misinformation (FUD) to (deliberately) mislead others. I support a skeptical, logical, evidence-based approach to problems and trouble-shooting. I try to see the whole picture and to look rationally at the issues. I chose to post in ADSL/MWeb related threads only, as, like most of us, I have limited time available and therefore post in areas which interest me and in areas in which I think I can make a (sometimes) valuable contribution.

All of the above is, however, exactly what a secret MWeb employee would post, right?

*Sigh*

Does it ever go away... you're boring us already with your continued tripe.

I'm pretty sure that considering this thread is about EX-MWEB subscribers - no one here really cares for your pro-MWEB stance - it doesn't help anyone here at all (see below, case #1)

It's definitely no.1.

Now go defend MWEB somewhere else, I want to see how good the grass on the other side is, as I am sure many other do too.

You are cluttering this thread, and your posts are irrelevant.

Wow people are sure passionate about Mweb whether they love it or hate it

Hahaha schumi.

I have mweb capped now, so technically, I'm still a mweb subscriber, but no longer an uncapped one... I am however a happy openweb gold uncapped 4mb subscriber... 105gb in december and counting :D

I can almost guarantee that no mweb 4mbps shaped customer is even close to that... Anyone gonna prove me wrong? ;)

4: you draw the short straw and must be on mweb-watch like the others.

Well - Openweb Gold is still going strong... haven't seen speeds below 300KB/s... outperforms MWEBs offering by miles.... I think in comparison, if Openweb had a 128KB product it would be on par with MWEBs 4MB product.
