Hi Guys,

I need to recover an account from within an Exchange EDB file. I dont have a working copy of the Server hence just the EDB file. I have a product called Kernel for Exchange which allows me to open the EDB file and view it but they want R3,000 for the product! My licensed product, PowerControls is not able to open the file, I fear it might be too recent a version.

If anyone has had to do this recently please let me know how and what you used?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I had my doubts as to whether it would work or not, I'm desperate so for the sake of troubleshooting I'm trying it now...

No such luck, like I said I dont have a working Exchange server, just the EDB file...

Any other ideas?

Try,
Office Recovery for Exchange Server (also part of Office Recovery Enterprise)
Ontrack PowerControls (latest version)

Use your imagination when it comes to finding them ;)

http://sourceforge.net/projects/libesedb/ component esedbexport can export the file to text I think. OSS forensic software should be able to read the file with the libesedb library.

@ pnder - I've got PowerContros which keeps failing with an E_Call Failure error. I'll check out Office Recovery for Exchange, Ive been very imaginative.... none of them seem to be "functional"

@ TheGuy - I dont think it will work as the old DC, Exchange etc is trashed, I dont think the Exchange will be able to index the file without some remnants of the previous AD...

Found it on Demonoid, you will have to read the comments to see if it's a 'functional'. pm me if you need an invite ;)
