Thanx - you and a friend of mine pointed this out to me this morning. I didn't know it could be done this way.

Sharing my experience

I stay in Pin Oak, Timbavati Street.

A Telkom guy (Openserve Order) come to install and said the sleeve was blocked.

A week later a contractor come and spent the entire day to get the fibre cable into my townhouse.

Sadly when everything was done; it emerged the fibre splitter isn't connected at the exchange (although some people allready have active connections in the same complex)

They now logged a call for someone to connect it at the exchange. This will probably take another week.

At least the whole process started allthough not seamless. I understand there's problems.

In a nutshell: appears a lot of the "newbies" to fibre in Moreleta experience the same issue - dead connections at the exchange.

Hi All,

Is anyone else experiencing ADSL outage in Moreleta Park?

My line has been dead since Friday, 2 September 2016.

Thanks.

Hi, my ADSL also went of Friday morning, but it was syncing again around 16:00 yesterday.

My frustration is that I had my fibre installation done 2 weeks ago but they haven't sorted out the issue at the exchange for that yet

Hi, went to go speak with Telkom in Woodlands yesterday. Very vague on when my issue is going to be resolved.

They claim that there was cable theft in the area. Still havent been able to connect...

Sadly still no news on the Fibre installation either, according to WebAfrica could take 6 months to have Fibre installed into my complex. The frustrating part is that the 3 complexes surrounding the one I am in is already connected.

HI All

They stole the cable that is running from the excahnge to the disitribution boxes in Wekker road, they are currently installing new backbone copper cable so it will take some time. I saw them yesterday in front of Moreleta Village Checkers/Woolworths. My line was up yesterday when I got home at about 3pm in Plumbago estate..

I'm also still waiting for fibre, however I must commend Telkom on the work done as the cable they are re-installing for the PSTN/ADSL services is a 300 core or more and to pull that in and reconnect all the lines will take some time. Iw as lucky that my outage was from Friday till yesterday.

My line went dead on Friday. Still no connection and I am just up the road past the Moreleta Village Checkers.

Hope it is not going to be too long that we have to wait to get reconnected. Still no word from Telkom as to how long the installation of Fibre will be into our complex. We have signed authorisation to allow them to come in and assess. Suppose it is just a waiting game now.

Good to hear, as stated previously by me in this thread, my fibre installation was done 2 weeks ago in Moreleta Park, but the problem is still not fixed at the exchange so also still playing the waiting game here :crying:

As a follow up on my previous post.

Webafrica delivered the modem the same day that I posted. I was not able to get full speed because of a slow wireless connection on my pc but that has now been rectified.

So here is the speedtest.

Hope you guys don't have to wait long for your fibre.

Ah can't wait for them to fix the issue, I am however really not sure why they could fix yours and not the rest of us whom stay in the same area.

Glad the connection is good thou :) enjoy!

That's an awesome connection. So UPLOAD is 50% of download on Telkom Fibre?
There are signs that 50% upload is being rolled out slowly, but it's not official yet - see here.

The official advertised upload speed on Telkom FTTH lines is still 25%.
Seems like new connections are getting 50% by default and older ones are being upgraded slowly.

Thanks for that - interesting. I saw the 25% upload so was surprised when I saw you got 50%. Enjoy your fibre - still waiting for me to get connected. Cheers

You've got excellent latency at 1ms. My ISP is Axxess and latency is 5ms (nothing to complain about - still good)
When I connect with my VOX TELECOM ADSL account via the fibre, latency is down to 1MS but they limit upload to 10MBPS.
