So after weeks of living with 0.3 - 0.5 Mbps download and 0.06 Mbps upload speeds I ran some test throughout the house and found a spot where my 8ta speeds rock :D

I was about to dump my SIM card and go with a more expensive option.

My latest speedtest.net result: http://www.speedtest.net/result/1967168775.png :D

Edit: 0.06 mbps upload.

Nice :) I also had bad speed, fiddled with where I put the phone and now it's cool! Not as fast as yours, but 2Mbps is acceptable.

Can you believe that rotating my phone 90 degrees improved my signal strength and speed? Weirdly it does. Just to confirm I turn it back 90 degrees once in a while to make sure I'm not insane.

That's what i hate about these mobile connections. My speeds aren't constantly as good as the first result, but so long as I get 2mbps down and 0.5mbps up im happy.

Yup - seems like sometimes you get what can only be described as a "burst" and then it's bad again - leased lines seem to be more stable. I switched to 1 m/b uncapped from mweb this week, I did about 10 speed tests and they were very consistant.

i think 3g mostly is up and down. i sometimes watch the download and the speed can jump from 5kb to 450kb throughout the download. adsl was a constant 105kb. but thats physical so you expect it to be stable. over the air fluctuates. and OP you are a lucky sob. enjoy :D

Sounds a bit crazy, but if it works for you - then ok :)

Sounds like a device issue.

Not such crazy as it looks like. It changes reception path. Modern phones have also proximity swith which limits transmitting power when placed too close to the head (for your own sake). :)
