Firefox is BACK with a vengance

The speed improvement is relative to earlier releases of FF. I've been off FF for some time now because Chrome just started up faster for one. FF now starts up very very quickly by comparison. Anyone tested their browsers speed and compared?

Those who had to comment about the link in the OP, it's fixed, but honestly, you did see the link on that 404 page to the download no? :p

My FF 23.0.1 on notebook PC does 480 while Chrome does 335... that's 30% slower!
I'd like to test it when I've app-ed up my FF (I still only have the stock browser).

As a 24/7 user I'm not interested in startup times or perceived speed, what else impresses you about FF now that you have returned?

I use Firefox at home and Chrome at work. Both are nice but if I have to pick only one then I'll go with Firefox. It just feels nicer to use.

Have Chrome & Opera installed but just too used to FireFox now. Only gripe I have is the gmail addon not working any longer.

I could never get used to Chrome. Have tried several times. Firefox is the center of my universe for now. :D

Me too, I've been through all the transitions since Netscape. Tried Chrome a few times, still run some stuff off Chrome (SARS is a bitch), but Firefox still stays my main browser.

Live bookmarks! I hung on to FF long enough for those before I switched.

And memory usage compared to chromium?

People often read the Chrome memory usage wrong. Chrome gives components their own memory space. Check the list of background processes. Here it is on my PC with identical tabs open (2x facebook, 1x cheezburger, 1x adobe, 1x Mybroadband):

Chrome

TOTAL 632.1

Firefox 392.5

Again, pinch of salt required - I haven't installed all my add-ons for FF yet. Other than Adblock plus and lastpass.

And YOUTUBE BUFFERS TO THE END!!!!!
Take that chrome lol

I'll stick to Firefox for as long as I can have my bookmarks on the left.

I have my bookmarks on the left.

Just create a folder called Bookmarks and drag it to the left of your Bookmarks bar. Simple.

I just noticed something weird when Firefox wanted to update on my S3. It wanted to use my camera and microphone without my permission? :wtf:

Are you sure that is not a Flash or Java based app that is asking?
It's usually the flash based apps that ask to use the camera and microphone.
I have never in all my years seen Firefox asking that.
Go through your list of installed extensions also and check if it could be any one of those extensions.

Nope - its Firefox Browser for Android. Couldn't get a screenshot of the detail for audio, but it asks for permission to use the mic and the camera without your confirmation. could be harmless and based on browser functionality, but still.. a bit creepy.
