Firefox usage

Lesson Learnt : Don't install k@k like FireFox or any of its "uber leet" extensions

I'm sorry ic but your sig has now officially crossed the line. Please bring it back into good order or I will be forced to take drastic measures to resolve the problem

Firefox is not a bad browser at all, specifically the ability to open links in a new tab. There are quite a few sites on which the menus don't work properly and the buttons wont respond.

I'll come to ic's defense here, so long as he updates it as often as he seems to :D

It's not good if it stays the same, but I get a kick out of seeing it transform as different topics come and go.

In hArTh's defence, I'd say that ic could go a bit easy on the old colours and fonts, choosing something more appealing to the eye - :D

Finally, I've written to the Mozilla team to get them to start work on a Sig blocking extension :p

EDIT: Actually, no need :-

" ASK ANY OF FIREFOX'S avid supporters and they'll tell you it's the fastest
browser around, true or not. Well, the INQ's stumbled on a little tweak
that's easy to do and sends the browser into overdrive.

All you've got to do is type "about:config" into your address bar, wait for
it to load, then alter the following entries: change
"network.http.pipelining" to "true", "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to
"true" and lastly "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to 30, meaning it
will be able to make 30 requests at once.

Don't bother if you're one of the unlucky sods still without broadband, but
if you are, then give it a shot. I've tried it out and it works like a
charm. Thanks to forevergeek.com! "

More info:

Seems like this info may have been first posted at
http://www.masternewmedia.org/news/2005/02/04/firefox_speed_boost_tweak_tips.htm

The info above does not include the third step

"3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves. "

Now if only I could get ff to load as fast as IE. sigh.

yea, just like netscape, then mozilla was the fastest browser around :D

as a developer, it's a shame that the browser companies HAD to go and "invent" their own blerrie standards....
