Firefox's future

I have to confess, sometimes I like to view the web in a very intimate and textual way :

I'm losing faith in Fx, addon development sucks since they just keep changing the API for no reason, they have adopted a hilarious version scheme (probably version 25 by 2013) and it seems as though it keeps getting slower and hogging much more RAM.
 
Why do people put so much faith into these articles? Are you really going to switch to a different browser because a (possibly biased) article says one can load a page in 0.01ms faster than another?

I know people who use IE9 exclusively, while I like using both FF and Chrome for different aspects. These browser wars really are silly. Use what appeals to you.
 
IE9 ain't half bad - and if you look at the massive improvement it is over IE8 then I'd say hats off to MS for pulling that one out of the hat. I can still remember the first time I went on the web using IE2. It came with Yebo Internet in a Can - you got this tin can with 4 stiffies and it made you dial an 082 number at cellular rates.

Browser war??? You referring to our discussion on this forum? The reason I ask, is whether I agree with the article or not, I got the distinct impression from the way it was written that it was simply the author’s opinion.

Same goes for the forum. I have not heard much talk of, “You’re wrong, this and that is 10 times better” kind of diatribe. We’re just people giving their opinion. In fact, the first truly negative comment is yours?

Unless you referring to the competition between browsers, which would also be silly, cause the competition is what has improved choice and overall end user experience.

So which “Browser War” are you referring to exactly?

Whew! Glad I read that. I am happy with FF. If I go look at Chrome, I might want to leave FF. DO NOT want to do that.

My Browsers are better than yours cause they are on my computers! finish en klaar!
 
i've moved to chrome.
ff sync was a winner for me, but i've since installed lastpass in chrome - it's clunky but it works.
the dev / debug tools in webkit also take a bit of getting used to, but i can pretty much get most things done that i could in firebug.
chrome is just faster and takes up less memory. it crashes from time to time with flash, but it doesn't get laggy if you have too many tabs open.
i really like the tab search in chrome, it speeds things up a lot.
i prefer the ff extensions browser.
 
Chrome's four killer features for me (two are extensions, but I'll let that slide):

- App shortcuts (the future)
- Ctrl+F enhanced scrollbar
- Google Quick Scroll
- Chrome to Phone
 
I switched to chrome from a very long stint with Firefox. However lately I've been doing some web development again, and althougth Ive tried the built in Chrome "inspect-element" feature and FireBug lite, I misss the productivity of the original FireBug plugin for FireFox.

For that very reason, and only reason I'm back on FireFox, even though I HATE the way it makes my fonts look blurry with its hardware excelleration (since Firefox 4).

Its also nice being able to install an integrated FTP client and blog editor in FireFox.
 
Downloaded it. Tried it for an hour. Impressed at the speed! Wow, this is a browser to use!

Downloaded Adblock. WOW, adds gone! Even faster and cleaner!

Looked for video download extension. Nothing found except for a crappy unstable beta version.

Back to Firefox. At least I can download online videos from Youtube to view in the future without streaming away valuable bandwidth.

Maybe when Chrome gets more workable extensions I will switch.

I'm back to using Opera for the moment.

I use FF, Opera, Chrome almost interchangeably.
