Our fireplace (closed combustion wood burner) came with house. I don't know who the manufacturer is except for the fact that the previous owners left some spares with the word Morso (spare fireproof woolen tape, and something else I can't recall. Ii think it could be this brand
https://www.morsoe.co.za/product-category/fireplaces/ but from their pics, they have their name on the top of every fireplace while mines nothing, so perhaps my fireplace is a different brand.
It's been 7 years since we moved in. We service the chimney annually (same guy the previous owners used)
I noticed that there is rust appearing at the mouth of the door, seems to have been going on for a while which I just never previously gave extra thought to. There is in internal thin strip of metal inside the door to keep the wood inside the chamber which is now seriously loose (probably also affected by rust. The fireplace is black in colour and where it's rusting, the paint has worn off. The fireplace just needs some TLC.
So some questions:-
1. I guess these are things that can be serviced and if so, any recommendations for someone in the sandton/randburg area? In my mind, the fireplace would need to be removed, serviced offsite, and then reinstalled. I will do this in September.
2. If you have done this, how much would it cost approximately?
3. I feel it needs a respray and if so, so if that is going to be part of the service, I am thinking it would be cool to make it another colour, possibly dark red - is this actually possible?
Thx as always for your advice!
