Fixing UBUNTU BOOT-UP

Well, in the meanwhile... i have installed a fresh copy of windows... ;)

Have you tried looking at Grub again after the installation?
But all you actually had to do was reinstall Ubuntu (using the "keep data" command) and put Grub on your Ubuntu partition.

Um... my freshly installed windows is missing.. :(
Sigh.... I HATE INSTALLING WINDOWS!!!!!!!

That would explain the error....

This is just perfect... :( Windows insists on having a tiny (it's not saying what size) partition on the Linux hdd (hd0). This is not a job I want to do at this hour...

Is there a way around it, and why does windows need that partition?

(On the plus side of all this... i am learning quite lot)

Windows needs it for its own boot loader. The easy way to install windows now is to disable the ubuntu drive, remove the drive (power and data cable), install windows, re-activate the Linux drive and update your menu.lst.

I like that optoin.... great idea :)

Or save yourself some time and use super grub disk. Yeah I've been banging on about it, but it will save you all that effort.

Right... Windows is re-installed.
Now to create a Super Grub Flash Disk... and all my problems will be a thing of the past. :D Well, that will happen tonight.

I just want to thank everyone who helped me with this, especially MyWorld for his quick responses. I did learn a heck of a lot... :D

And thanks in advance to Chiskop, I trust that Super Grub will do as you say. :)
