Same here for the first card -- the fee was reversed a couple of days later.

I'm not sure you can link more than one card? On my LoungeKey account it very specifically refers to the "VISA Signaturecard ending with XXXX" next to my name, implying that it is linked to the card. And if I edit card I can only edit the existing one.

On Gold Cheque Accounts you are charged for all cards, unfortunately. Unless I should have requested it gets reversed like ebendl mentioned in his post :-( My card fee came off exactly a year after I got the USD card and the Euro card should come off soon.

Would one not be better off going with something like the Bidvest World Currency card for the second currency? Rather have that than pay the $20 annual fee for the 2nd FNB GA debit card?
 
How long did it take for you guys to get your global account card? Did you also have to apply for it? I have recently opened a FNB private client account and opened a global account. Also just recently put some pounds into it but still have not heard anything about a card being issued for me for this account

You have to request the card. Its not issued automatically.

You can order it via the app IIRC, or via online banking. Last resort, ask your banker to organise.

If you are looking at costs involved, Capitec debit card would probably be better
For a R5 monthly fee, and no exchange rate percentage charges for foreign purchases
Although you wouldn't earn ebucks
It will also probably be much easier to use as it's a bank account as opposed to a cash card with many limitations and only an ID is needed to open the account

Will you not earn enough ebucks on each card to overcome the fee?
I've set up all my international credit card debits to use my usd card (eg PayPal, Netflix, etc). I was capping my online spend on credit card each month.

Fair point. Spreadsheet time... it will depend on what the value of the swipes are going to be.

In my case I might visit Norway early next year, I have a EUR GA card, and i dont recall Krone being a currency that the GA card comes in, so i may decide to just swipe the EUR GA card that i have, get the 4% back in eB but take a 2.75% currency conversion hit. Or perhaps i'd be better off using my credit card for swipes. This gets really complicated :unsure:

Actually looking at the bidvest fees, they seem to be a bit of a rip off :( https://www.bidvestbank.co.za/personal-visa-world-currency-card-rates.aspx#cmb

@ebendl , perhaps look into the FNB multi currency cash passport card, though i dont know offhand if there are eBucks benefits to going that route.

No sure if you are aware Netflix charged in Rand is cheaper than the US pricing. About a R50 difference.
 
Can you use the usd global card to order from amazon.com ?
I tried adding the card and paying in usd - got an Sms from FNB stating that “transaction is declined as it may not be used in this country”
Anyone able to order successfully from amazon using the global card? Thanks

Yes, it will work on Amazon. In fact, on any website, as long as it is outside South Africa.

You get the message for Google Play, because Google sees your location as SA and the sale is recorded in Rands, hence the reason the transaction declines. You cannot use the card for local purchases.

I tried purchasing on amazon.com and got the declined sms from FNB thereafter. I chose to pay in usd (same currency as the card). I cant figure out why it would decline?

Did you activate your card from your online banking account?

Then you will need to contact FNB and have them take a look at your account.
