And what about those that don't want any notification?

Update.

Snail mail notice was sent advising that notification to recipients would be charged starting 1st July.
I spend most of my time abroad so didn't get this notice.

The charge on my account was for email notification to a recipient - R0.50

I have now deselected notifications to all recipients.

SMS notification to you on account activity is still free for now.

lol somebody is ripping you a new one...

I received a deposit last night, received SMS and email notification and have not been charged for that, I just sent some cash now and received SMS and email notification again without a charge on my account.

:p

I think some people here have things mixed up. Two things here are being discussed as if they are one and the same. These are the two:

  1. Incontact: This is when there is any "movement" on your account and a sms or email is sent to you to inform you of this. This is free.
  2. Payment notification: This is a notification of payment sent to a third party. Cost for these are
    * Email notification: 50c
    * SMS notification: 75c
    * Fax notification: R3.50
    The email used to be free but these fees were increased as from 1 July.

Hope this clears it up for the confused ones.

You're right - this is what I confirmed with them today.

On the subject, BANK CHARGES are not sent to me. That is a deduction on my account, and affects the balance. These charges can easily be over R300, so it is not insubstantial.

FNB ARG!!!

I just decided to log into my internet banking to check on my 'millions' :rolleyes:

Low and behold, FNB are now charging to send out e-mails when you do proof of payments.

50c to send a e-mail notification (to the person you paying)
R3.50 to send a fax notification.

The fax cost I can understand, but the e-mail cost... WTF! :mad:

Absa has been charging those for years.

Now, I remember, back in the day, FNB used to charge a fee to use Internet Banking, then they took that away, it was a first, blah blah blah.

Now they are charging for this, and for that (when they didn't before) so basically, they should just charge a set fee again, because they are indirectly doing that anyways!

Mod_note: threads merged.

I'm starting to feel that maybe, I should draw all my money out, put it under my pillow because FNB are taking it slowly.

I'm surprised they haven't started charging to log INTO internet banking. :rolleyes:
