For Telkom

Those records are accurate, if it says 108GB then that's what it is.

We get those high figures because we schedule all our big downloads (steam, torrents, nzb etc) from 00:00-07:00 which does not count towards your usage wrt the formula used to determine when you get throttled.

Its like i said, i can schedule my downloads between 00H00-07H00 it does not apply for me. Even if i do download between those time during the night/morning, my data usage still increases as a power user on telkom site.....so for me its not "free" during those times. It applies as a normal download whether i download it at 9pm or 10am, it still adds to my data usage limit on telkom site

It will add to your data usage (on the SAIX stats) but it should not impact on your TiTracker usage bar.

That's the theory, anyway. :)

Only theory i have is if my power user bar turns red on the telkom site my dsl gets cut or shapped.....thats why i said no matter the time of download it adds to that usage bar. And when it turns red, im screwed.

So i can download between 00H00-07H00 it still adds to that usage bar like any other time during the day and when it turns red i might as well throw away my modem cause then my internet is useless

Can you show us a link to this claim on the Telkom website please?

That is correct, if your bar is red then you are "soft-capped" on everything, including Night Surfer.

Yes mickeyd i know its correct, but what i am saying is even before i am soft-capped, downloading at "night surfer" is not "free" for me. It still gets added to my data usage.

I do belive that this is quite idiotic of Telkom to put capped lines on business. I mean your pay R300 more to prevent this, but they still cap you. On all other ISP sites going business with them you get unmetered downloads......why is telkom not the same?

Whats the use of a business line with these idiots at telkom??

well there is telkom techs in aliwal north. But non of them know anything, all they always do is port resets and log faults which never gets sorted out ect ect. So anything on telkom is a waste anywhere in the world. Logging calls to a call center they just give you the policies and just do a line or port reset. They dont investigate into my issue at all.

Also why would it be a waste having a premium account if there is no techies??

One of the main benefits of a premium account is meant to be that your faults receive a higher priority than us plebs with residential services. The service level agreement for service restoration is meant to be something like 24 hours compared to 7 days for us plebs.

EDIT: in the past there would also be blocks of ports reserved for business customers. Don't know if it is still like that.

well my service sucks. My service is equal to any other south africa thats with telkom. Tickets getting lost. Fault logs not cared about. Help desk takes over 1 hour just to wait for a consultant. Customer care takes almost a month to reply to emails ect ect.

So we all still get treated the same no matter your account

Yeah, ranger is my only hope so far. This site has been more helpfull than telkom itself anyways. So im not complaining

Do you use 10217 to log faults?
