Forcing Google Services to local (RSA) IP address

If something isn't working, then please let me know. I've said in my original post what you should include.

i can (still) access google, youtube and facebook :)
i wasn't able to access google maps while capped before making the above changes - i can now - thanks very muchly! :D

OK awesome to hear that.

The image you posted didn't upload correctly. My guess is it complained about the certificate.
Basically the browser would moan about the certificate, because it was intended for www.google.co.za and not for mail.google.com.
I'd suggest that you do check that the certificate is still valid, except for the name difference. I think I've already mentioned that earlier in this thread.

You'll notice that you got exactly the error that I though.

Read the error message:
Certificate is only valid for www.google.com.
and
ssl_bad_cert_domain

If you go and view the certificate details and then the certificate hierarchy MUST start with a builtin object token. This is what it will say in Firefox:

Builtin Object Token:Verisign Class 3 Public Primary Certificate Authority
  Thawte SGC CA
     www.google.com
If it's not a certificate that originated from the Builtin Object Token, you MUST NOT continue to the site!
 
Pada,are you allowed to upload Bind9 to Quickshare?
If so, can anyone? would love to try it before tomorrow.
 
ok pada, i now have a different problem...

when clicking on the gmail tab in google, i get the following error message - and not the error i was getting last night (ref my pic):

The connection was interrupted
The connection to www.google.com was interrupted while the page was loading.
* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.

i decided to see what would happen if i tried opening gmail using ie8 - and i could actually get to the login page, but after entering my details, i got the following error:

There is a problem with this website's security certificate.
The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a different website's address.

sincerious: you're just getting the same certificate error in Internet Explorer. I would do the same in Internet Explorer, by checking the validity of the certificate hierarchy again. In IE8 the certificate hierarchy is called 'Certification Path'.
Unfortunately I have no idea what is causing the trouble in Firefox though.

ok, pada, i've been going through ie8 help (seeing as i can't get to firefox help) and all i find when searching for "certification path" is how to "Reset Internet Explorer to the default settings" ...?

You're doing something wrong! You can't find the certificate info by clicking properties on the page...

Perhaps you should click Continue and then you can view the certificate.
 
sorry guys i cannot save hosts file through note pad.it gives me "acquried permission from addministrater"error in Win7 32 bit sys:confused:
 
nettracker: open notepad with administrative permissions or just disable UAC completely.
 
Shweeet, Thanx I was wondering where I would be able to find some info on Routing your Facebook,youtube,Google Traffic through some local servers, without using a VPN...
