All-new Ford Bronco gets 6×6 treatment from Maxlider Motors!

It’s not an iconic SUV unless some off-roading customiser creates a 6×6 conversion. This time around it’s the all-new Ford Bronco at the hands of Maxlider Motors. Seen here in render form, this isn’t the first Bronco that the Ford 4×4 specialist has converted, but it probably is the most extreme.

Maxlider Motors is no stranger to the Ford Bronco as it has been restomodding older generation models to award-winning standards but with the all-new model now hitting the streets, it believed that a conversion to take this 4×4 to the next level was in order.

The customisation firm hasn’t dropped any details surrounding the build but it has confirmed that it will be available as of 2022 and is already taking reservations with prices starting at $399 000 (approximately R5,8 million).

A Flipper Is Asking $30,000 Over Sticker Price For 2021 Ford Broncos

The 2021 Ford Bronco hasn’t even hit dealerships yet, and already people are trying to make big bucks flipping them.

It almost seems inevitable with markups and flippers, right? Hot new models and greed seem to go hand in hand. Autoevolution reports that someone in LA is attempting to flip two Bronco orders for a tidy profit.

The two orders are for Wildtrack and First Edition Broncos. Keep in mind that the MSRP for these two models is $49,475 and $61,605 for the four-door models. This person is asking $80,000 for the Wildtrak and $90,000 for the First Edition. It makes even less sense when you factor in that the difference between what he’s asking and the MSRPs is roughly the price of a base two-door Bronco.

Ford announced on Tuesday that production of the 2021 Ford Bronco is in full swing, with the first Ford Broncos making their way to dealerships across the country. Ford will hope that its launch of the new Ford Bronco is relatively pain-free, given the trouble it has had with recent launches.

It’s probably also fair to say that Ford’s launch troubles have not appeared to hurt sales. Further, since the Bronco is intended to take direct aim at the Jeep Wrangler, I’m not sure Ford needs to be perfect either given Jeep’s mediocre dependability record.

Hennessey VelociRaptor 400 Bronco revealed with 302 kW!

It was only a matter of time until the famous American tuner put its hands on Ford’s popular 4×4 once again. Shifting focus away from the V8 package, the Hennessey VelociRaptor 400 Bronco has been revealed as a limited package for the heritage off-roader featuring more power and some design enhancements.

Adding to the element of performance, the Hennessey VelociRaptor 400 Bronco has had the power output on its twin-turbocharged 2,7-litre V6 pushed up from 231 kW and 542 N.m of torque to 302 kW and 682 N.m. This has been achieved by means of a new engine management software upgrade, exhaust system and high-flow air induction. With this applied, the Hennessey VelociRaptor 400 Bronco will accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) in 4,9 seconds as per the firm’s claimed figures; a 0,8 second improvement over the standard model.

With the tuning house’s off-road package, the Hennessey VelociRaptor 400 Bronco gets a meaner look as well thanks to a set of 35-inch off-road tyres with 18-inch wheels, front and rear VelociRaptor bumpers, retractable side steps and unique VelociRaptor branding. Changes to the cabin are limited to Hennessey embroidered headrests as well as serial numbered plaques (found in the engine compartment as well).

Some Ford Bronco Owners Are Reporting Their Hardtops Are Falling Apart, Growing Scales

Worse yet, it's the only hardtop option for the Bronco you'll be able to get for quite a while.

The Bronco’s roof has been a point of frustration for Ford and prospective owners since well before the SUV started being delivered to the first customers last month. Production snags pushed vehicles optioned with body color-matched and contrasting hardtops to at least 2022. Those with molded-in-color Carbonite Gray roofs are leaving the factory now. Unfortunately, it seems at least some of those could’ve used another quality assurance check or two.

Two owners on the Bronco6G forum are reporting various issues, from “snakeskin-like” patterns showing through the plastic top, to headliner separation, warping around the screws that fasten the roof to the chassis and decomposition of “raw,” unfinished edges. Both owners say these defects weren’t present on their Broncos when they received them, and one mentioned he had his example for three weeks before he started noticing flaws.

At the moment, the cause — or causes, considering the range of issues at play here — are unknown, as is the number of vehicles affected. Respondents theorize the honeycomb texture could be related to problems with lamination that wouldn’t have been visible upon application, but later revealed themselves in time.

Jeep admits that the Ford Bronco is a great competitor but it’s not scared

Since it was revealed a year ago, the Ford Bronco has been winning the hearts of many off-road enthusiasts. While this may be a good thing for the blue oval, this heroic moniker’s return to the sphere means tougher competition for those that have held a strong position in the space. Once such manufacturer is Jeep that admits Ford’s latest competitor is a great one.

Speaking to The Detroit News during a roundtable meeting, Jeep CEO Christian Meunier says that despite this fresh challenger, the company’s plan is to stay on top in the off-road market.

“Competition is great,” Meunier said. “There is a craving for freedom to make you go anywhere. I think Bronco is going to be a good competitor, a solid competitor, we don’t deny that. At the same time, it puts us on our toes. It forces us to be better and better and better.”

As a means to tackle the Ford Bronco head-on, Jeep introduced the 2021 Wrangler Rubicon 392 which is the first factory-built Wrangler SUV with a V8 powertrain in nearly 40 years. This week at the Chicago Auto Show, Jeep will have its Wrangler Xtreme Recon package on display which enters its range as a response to the Bronco’s off-road Sasquatch package.

“There are a lot of things that are coming that are in the pipeline,” Meunier added. “We are going to keep our king of the hill position, for sure.”
