Forum Upgrade

Too much bright, clinical white ..... the setup is very nice but this brightness is headache inducing :o

Am I confused or does the forum navigation disappear when I'm in "New Posts"?

There is no "Quick links", No Forum link... nothing. You need to open a thread in order to get it back.

Nice overall.

Couple of issues though:
  • The yellow smilies look pretty nasty. Old ones were much better.
  • The User CP button is gone. So no easy way to view subscribe threads.
  • Very white. A slightly blue-ish background would be better imo.
  • The left hand icons are too big on the whole (Both in new posts and in forum home)
  • First icon in list missing when selecting icon for post as a whole.

EDIT: "Selecting the missing icon then defaults to a page, like this post.

EDIT: Found User CP thing under Quick links, but thats not shown when the new post things switches the tab from "Forum" to "Whats new"

I recently installed the alpha2 version of Kubuntu Lucid Lynx and was testing out Konqueror this morning and ended up here and thought 'WOW, how can Konqueror do this to a website?'. :D
I then looked further and realized that the site had been upgraded. Good job. Will comment more once I get the hang of it ;)

Been playing for about 20minutes now - this new look just irratates me... but I guess it's because it's new. arg!

OK a couple of things:

1. All the tab links at the top: Photos, Tech etc all still have the old look and it's an eyesore when switching between this newer look and the old one. I hope eventually EVERYTHING on the site will be upgraded.

2. The smilies look crap. If this skin is part of a vBulletin upgrade that comes standard with those smailies, then I suggest adding new ones, preferably something similar to what we had before.

3. Pretty hard to see which posts are new and which are old, the old way used to bold newer threads, now we gotta judge by the icon next to the thread title.

4. People have mentioned this already but it's a bit to bright...how about some contrast?

I reset the question and tested it - seems to be working now.
OK, I can't quite remember the e-mail address I used either.
I try the first one and answer the question.
It tells me it doesn't recognise the e-mail address.
I change it to my other e-mail and again it says my answer to the question is wrong.

Not quite sure where to go from here. Maybe just e-mail me a new password for the 'risingtide' account to whatever e-mail address is registered with you.

While the "photo"-look for the Classifieds' images looks nice artistically, it makes it difficult in some cases to see the picture properly. Now you have to open each one to see the proper images.

I am still getting a feel for it but first impressions are obviously good. One thing that is not as easy to pick up is the difference in colour/contrast between threads you have already viewed and those that you have not. On the old forum the thread title would be bold if unread and not if read. This one now appears to be blue and grey envelopes which are not as easy to see the difference.

I am also trying to fathom what a red envelope means? I'm sure I will work it out eventually but perhaps someone can point it out.

Also as pointed out by someone else the font size is rather small when typing a response to a post. When posted it is larger.

Im sorry but as it is now, I dont like it at all. I prefer the old look :(

Maybe you could get the old 'MyBB' blue back?

The first thing I thought when I arrived at the MyBB page today was horror of all horror - WTF am I looking at? The first thing that jumped out at me was the colour scheme, in particular the white background which was blinding!

Another thing that I don't like is the way in which forumites' general details (forumite name, no. of posts, location, etc.) are now being displayed all the way to the left, when making a post in the thread. I prefer it to be as it originally was. At that icon that shows whether you're offline/online is so tiny!

After browsing around now for about an hour I am starting to like the new look of MyBB (aside from what I have stated above). In general I am impressed about the upgrade. It's more visually appealing esp. since I have a full HD screen. As for user-friendliness I still need to browse MyBB a bit more before I can determine that one; but having said that I think we should just wait until the final product appears before I make any judgements.

I hate this new look, too bright and I had to reply to this thread to login.

Yup... the white is indeed proving to be something I would rather not be blinded by.

I like the "crispness", but will be reluctant to spend much time here because the white indeed is headache inducing.

I trust that this is the default, un-tweaked theme... and that it is to change during the upgrade process???

If not, then, well, I wonder if I can override the css in Opera.... or I will be very rarely visiting.... :(

rpm did say this was the default theme and would still be tweaked once the basics were stable and working IIRC.

RPM i love the new look!

It almost feels like i am browsing on an international forum but without the bandwidth clogging junk.

Very high-tech and am enjoying the view from my humble 19 inch lcd.

I normally hate change and i feel this forum has been improved.

Well done RPM!

***Loud Applause***

I like the look, and it works especially well on my Blackberry - there's more usability there now. The only thing I dislike is that there's no separator line between the body of a post and the user's signature, so the sig looks like part of the post.

*edit* I might agree with some posters above that it's a bit too white though.
