Free ADSL data on weekends

Even though this looks pretty innovative, I won't use CyberSmart until they fix their terms and conditions. Any company that keeps such draconian terms in their T&C is not to be trusted.

Very true. I decided to stay away from them because of their attitude in the terms & conditions.

been with Cybersmart for years now, always had great service, definitely taking them up on this offer
it probably won't beat the uncapped options, but at least you know you always have a connection..unlike some of the uncapped companies that has a decent speed one day per week

This article isnt correct .. I cant see how anyone can get 20Gigs in 4 weekends at 30 hours per weekend at an average of 38kb/s (I know theoretically its slightly more .. but 38-40kb/s is screaming on a 384 .. with means at 38kb/s the most you can achieve (download) in 30 hours on a weekend is 38x60x60x30 / 1024 = +- 4000mb or 4gigs ... multiply by 4 is 16 gb ... if you add 25% for uploading (assuming torrents or P2P) the maximum you will achieve is 20GB .. thats hardly "achieving 20GB in 4 weekends easily" .... Ill stick to my uncapped for 512pm thanks

All good and well, but with +8mb lines coming, these deals are pretty much useless...but deals are alot better than a year ago!! Problem is, by the time ISP's come the terms with the current market and make a "quick fix" like this "weekender" deal...its already 2 late and you have 2 wait another 6-12 months before ISP's catch on....and the whole cycle repeats itself

Same here, I want to use afrihost as well but can't according to them.

30 hour weekend? :wtf:

Saturday = 24 hours. Sunday = 24 hours. Monday till 5:59 = ~6 hours.

That makes 54 hours... :D

Yip their T&C suck donkey balls. Wish they would change it. Before we all get into another debate about their T&C, and for anyone else that wants to know - read/discuss/defend/complain about it on this thread - Cybersmart's Restrictive Terms & Conditions. WTF

This is misleading advertising - Free ADSL data on weekends.

Yet...."Weekender will be an add-on service just like Nightrider and will cost R99 per month. "

R99 per month extra may seem like a low price to pay for browing all weekend but it is R99 and therefore this is not free.

First off, it's not an advert, it's a news article. Secondly, cybersmart say that it costs R99 - very transparent and not misleading at all.

Its a freakishly good deal.

You order a custom package of say 10 gigs for a few hundred rand. Then every weekend you can quickly pull 25 gigs of content for the following week.

Really, 100 gigs just became affordable and quick. One saturday a week on a 4 meg line is equivalent to 10 days of constant download on a 384kbps, which is ignoring the fact that when your 384kbps line is running 24/7 it becomes fairly useless for anything else.

I think the 384 option might be too little to go against the screamer's R399 uncapped all the time.

384:
Max over weekends: 8.9GB = 35GB @ R99
Comes to about R2.8 perGB for harcore downloaders.
I'd put that at about 11GB a month (using it when awake), or R9 per GB

512
3GB = R229. So 30GB @ R328
Comes to about R11 per GB

MAX:
47GB (3GB + 1GB +1 GB + R99) @ R416
Comes to about R8.8 per GB

4M
3GB = R259. So 30GB @ R358
Comes to about R12 per GB

MAX:
379GB (3GB * 12 + 1GB + 1GB + R99) @ R3405
Comes to about R8.9 per GB

Night rider is still the better option for budget conscience people.

As a matter of interest, nightrider and weekender can be used together. If you have nightrider and weekender both enabled then in nightrider time on weekend the discount is multiplied together. So nightrider gives you 5 times and weekender gives you 10 , then during nightrider time on weekender you get 50x your cap

Does anybody know when Cybersmart will increase the cap for their vaiours options as stated on this "test" site? http://www3.cybersmart.co.za/

It is not released publicly, but you can phone their support line and ask to get that package.

@ipodman, that was just a clever hoax

Nope, I am using the R179 for 2gig and 384k line :D

They never launched it, it was only going to be viable if the Seacom bandwidth worked out and it never did. They never advertised it, we found the site by accident. No hoax no lies.

But you can still get it.
