Free SEACOM testing

It's like a fancy car being displayed that only the rich few in the world could afford.

What the point if DATA is at it's current cost!

I honestly don't understand our telecoms, it's been proven that we will use the data if priced correctly. What is stopping Telkom, Neotel, VC and MTN from just supplying the data at a lower cost.

Market penetration will be higher as well as we will download more for the same buck, their revenue streams will improve!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! not decline :-(

um, I think they are trying to get more ISPs and customers on board... that is actually a good thing.

Only in South Africa will people moan about something given away for free.

Soz Off topic, Garyvdh, Sept is here, when and we going to hear about the good news you were talking about, surely it wasn't the Webafrica going to a Tier 1 ISP?

The news still going to come, I recall it was Telkom related?

um, I said October... not September. Talk to me at the end of October.

Is that 155Mbps on the existing fibre ring or did they lay it for this event?

Imagine, a shopping mall with more bandwidth than the whole of SA

cant wait, live 1 road away from it! If its open to public, I'll open a 4 days ISP from my place. haha

Pointless excersize untill the bigger players wake up and smell the coffee... Nothing in this country will change untill this per MB pricing regime goes bonkers.

None of them buy bandwidth based on per MB - it's a cash sucking monkey making donkey.

What's the point of this demonstration? Anyone whose been overseas knows what true/real broadband is and this is merely taunting everyone to show what we can't/don't have and are unlikely to in the near future.
Sure, in 5-10 years time we _might_ have something resembling true broadband, but we might also have flying cars. No one is holding their breath.
