Frogfoot Port Elizabeth

my routing via CPT has always been lower ping and less packet loss. Tried JHB routing in June for a couple of days and the ping was 80+ ms more compared to CPT. Packet loss also got crazy at times..
yeah, CPT has always been nice , never had a problem until recently when Frogfoot decided to do all their re routings and ****

Frogfoot are looking to go with dark fibre on those routes and equipment has been delayed by Covid. So they will just use what they have available until then to avoid commiting to more layer2 capacity.

Poor performance is starting up again. Yay.
Same on this side:

My first hop where I'm handed off in Joburg:

All tests pointing to evidence of possible congestion (slow download and packet loss but upload is normal and tests during peak usage period):

Thankfully my vdsl line is still pending cancillation so I use that. The Fibre is running at 4mb on a 50mb contract.

Hello All

I've taken the time to go through this thread and can 100% relate to what you are currently experiencing on FrogFoot Fibre.

Location: Lorraine, Port Elizabeth
Package: 50/50
ISP: Vox Telecoms

From around 18h00-23h30 every evening this happens...(No ISP equipment)

Feels like Frogfoot is shaping / throttling while we sign up with the ISP for unshapped Unthorrles uncapped. Sorry to say. Don't offer I package if your Fibre partner can't deliver.

Shaping and throttling does not actually cause packet loss though.

There is a notice on FrogFoot notice board about degraded performance for PE.

It's impossible to even hold a connection to a server during these times mentioned above...excessive packet loss and constant disconnects.

Signed up in August 2019 and as of around February 2020 the connection quality has gone downhill, the last month or so being the worst experience I've had to date.
