Hey thanks for that. I dropped you a mail. I'm sure we will be able to figure out what is going on here.

Still monitoring, packet loss remains but less than before. Latency has doubled though. I will monitor till Sunday and get back if not earlier. One day of slightly better does mean much. Will game also tonight and weekend and that where the packet loss will be noticed the most.

They changed my routing during the night from CPT to JHB. Pings are double but will test the rest.

@AfriGuy @cavedog can I take his spot on the CPT ENNI since his capacity was freed up? ;)

The JHB ENNI isn't great for us who game on international servers as it adds around 40-50ms to our international pings & my pings to one of my gameservers in CPT is now 45-50ms when it used to be 11ms :(

Yeah so either you get massive packet loss and lower ping, or you get less packet loss and high pings.. I would like to stay on the CPT routing for gaming online as that makes a big difference as @joshsparkie mentioned. With the JHB adding a lot ms on our pings.. Tested Diablo 3 now and ping is 390ms - 440ms on EU server with JHB routing where as CPT routing gave me between 150ms and 220ms. Escape from tarkov local server gives me 125ms to 160ms where as CPT routing gives me 45-90ms (friend in same party and servers getting 45ms..) , COD2019 and warzone give me 120ms wheres as on CPT routing I had 35-50ms..1.1.1.1A.png8.8.8.8A.png

You my friend win first prize...

Go back and look at all the people on this forum in PE that use FF and you will see it most definitely is a major problem.

So you are passing the buck to your partners at afrihost.. And they say pass the buck to you, Great service and spectacular run around the bush work. You must be proud of copy pasting your replies.
Well said.

I have been monitoring this thread before deciding on which FTTH to use, and together with feedback from my brother in Lorraine (also Frogfoot), I will certainly not support such poor service!

We have had our ONT installed today, but the technician said that the line is dead (reading above 55dB) and apparently will take 2 - 4 days to resolve.

But small steps are better than no steps :)

This is what Afri is sending out it you complain now.

Thank you for reaching out to us here at Afrihost.
Please accept our apologies for your recent poor experiences with your internet.

The recent overload of home internet users has prompted a infrastructure providers to make a few improvements to their bandwidth to help their patrons out.
Due to the National lockdown there has been an influx of queries regarding internet connections and speeds.

This has been Frogfoot's response to us attempting to address any speed issues on their connections.
They keep asking for these tests to be run at the property in question.

This also explains all the issues we have on our lines with packet loss etc... Unfortunately, due to the network constraints in certain regions, we will not be offering this upgrade in George and Port Elizabeth.

They should halve line speeds until they've got enough capacity. Would you rather have a stable 50mbps connection without any packet loss, or a 100mbps connection with a large amount of packet loss? Hell, I'd rather have a 20mbps fibre service that actually worked properly rather than the rubbish that FF is serving up.

They installed our Calix ONT on Thursday last week, and the technician said that there our line is not active and will take 2 - 4 days to resolve.

Checking on the ONT, only the power light is on. Am I correct in saying that I should see the Service and Broadband lights on as well, once the line goes active?

The Broadband light should be on regardless of it being active. To show there is a connection. The Service light comes on when it's activated. That's how the technicians explained it to me.

Thanks. So I guess no fibre for me just yet.

Our fibre was lit yesterday afternoon, shout out to CapeConnect's support staff who were very friendly and quick to assist with a small issue that I had with my Edgerouter. I haven't had a speedtest that doesn't resemble a camel's humps in a very long time:

@PhireSide does cape connect still enable ipv6 by default?

Here's my result:

I haven't fiddled with the Edgerouter too much yet, so I am not sure if I am missing some settings for IPv6:

Excerpt from an email I received:

You have indicated you will use your own router. This needs to be one that has complete IPv6 functionality as our network is fully IPv6 enabled.

and

Your IPv6 needs to inherit from PPPoE and be stateless.
