FTTH - Blairgowrie - Vumatel

I am in the last phase, and yesterday they started painting lines on the pavement for the trenching.

Had the scanning guys out on the road all day looking for obstructions.

So hopefully digging will start soon,

The process now is that they do scans, those scans are submitted to City Power, and only once City Power has signed off, can they do any digging. City power can take long to sign off

Jason has told me we should get updated timelines next week. but the process has slowed down significantly.

I agree on the comms, we are working with Jason, but as it stands, they cannot give any firm information at all, which is sad. But information is dependent on city power coming to the party

My apartment is on Bram Fischer Drive, last week they started digging up the road, now it all seems done with digging, they cleaned most of the area.

My phase area is 9, when do you guys guestimate the access point to the complex will be installed and CPE devices to be put into apartments? I have already signed up for the installation a few weeks ago.

Complex completion dates depend entirely on when the BC allows all the digging etc in the complex.

What Sinbad says is true. It really depends on your complex. If your complex is happy for fibre to be added to it, then it will happen. I know there are a couple who has said no, the people don't need fibre (can you believe it)

Best would be to send a mail to VUMA, or go onto the Vuma Blairgowrie twitter account, and ask there.

Phase 9 Dates have also not yet been confirmed since the whole electricity debacle. So cannot really give you a date. But want to say before May. No Promises.

Are you on the blairgowrie Facebook Page? If you are, you can ask Jason on there directly

Ok thanks, Im sure our owners would love to have it, my landlord was saying how awesome it is with fibre at the other complex owned by the same owners.

I dont do social media, ill give them a call if I have to. Just wanted to know more or less timeframe from BC approval to installation of the CPE and ready to use, so I guess I have to wait some more, sigh :((

I have asked Jason about the status of MDU's. They have contacted most MDU's aorund the installation. So it may be a good idea to ask your landlord about it. He will be able to give some feedback. If he does not know about it, please send me a PM with your complex, and I will raise it with Jason.

Fibre is in the wallbox but not connected yet AFAIK.

Was pleasantly surprised to see trenching on my pavement today, which is in phase 12. Thought trenching was only continuing for phases up to 10 this week.
 
I found guys close to my house. Working on fibre. Asked them what they were doing, and they said they are preparing a joint.

All I could do was think of the townhall after power cables were hit, and how a joint would have made the meeting so much funnier.

So... Phase 6 gets to wait another week...

The only consolation is that I think Vumatel would actually also like to get us running in order to start earning some revenue.
