FTTH Montana Park

I see another small part has gone active. I live just above that part :(

I was able to place my order again (via afrihost). I'll keep everyone posted on the progress. It is important that everyone that can sign up, signs up. Telkom must see uptake is good, so that our neighbours can get it too!

The DFA line is already running along Sefako Makgatho Drive - so if you live in a complex/HOA in Veda Ave, I may be able to assist, as the line is close to your complex. Send me an email with your COMPLEX NAME & ADDRESS, and we can get the ball rolling. SADV is now also installing into free-standing houses (if they are on-route to a complex where they are provisioning fibre), so your chances are good if the area is dense with complexes.

Phew! I only just scraped into the newly active area by a house or two and am now trying to migrate my Telkom ADSL to fibre. Because I was a day or so too early, the process seems to have become a bit more complicated than expected. My advice is to wait until your area is definitely purple before applying, no matter what other info appears on the map; e.g. if the map is still pink, but says you can get 100 mbps, rather wait. In my case it was a matter of days before it changed to purple.

I finally got a gazillion reference numbers today. Nevertheless, the process is very unclear for the sale representatives trying to help out. Day 1 of Day 28 (they say 4 weeks, lol)

I am in the middle of the 2 dark purple blocks :(

All who have been able to place orders please keep the rest of us up to date. Especially how long it takes after order placed before actual connection. If possible provide ISP used.

Hopefully the rest will be quicker now. Almost a year later before another block became dark purple.

It is super weird that the middle is not fired up already. The Telkom LTE tower was connected to fibre months ago. And right next to it is a pole that feeds it to the houses for our block.

I went for my morning run. Some work is being done by contractors on the corner of Besembiesie and Riethaan Street.

Has anybody seen any trenching or any work whatsoever? I know Zambezi Estate was earmarked first thus I presume they will be getting first. Thus has anything happened In Zambezi Estate or anywhere for that matter in the area where it shows Future Fiber from Openserve?

There is fibre in Montana already (DFA line):

I am aware DFA is there but all the ISP's I contacted do not want to install. Thus if you know of anybody that would use the DFA fiber and install at my house I would jump on the opportunity.

Technicians were working at the Openserve box in Spoonbill yesterday. Spoke to them. Most of the fiber is completed but are awaiting final inspection/sign off from Openserve. As soon as that is completed it will go-live. 1-2 months apparently. Problem is access to properties. (Was also previously told 2 months.....and that was months ago)

Up and running in the second purple spot! A friendly, professional and competent Telkom technician came and did the installation a day earlier than expected. The installation and testing took about 5 hours in total. Once completed, I was given a password and, using my own router, was soon connected. I get the speed I pay for and the connection is solid and stable-a definite improvement over DSL, especially the upload. Here's hoping they can fire up more regions soon.

That is good news! I placed my order on the 12th via Afrihost but haven't heard from Openserve yet. Which ISP did you sign up with?

I'm still waiting for Afrihost. Feedback is limited from them, and you can't phone telkom directly for updates (I can do that for DSL for example). I wouldn't recommend Afrihost for the innitial sign up. I've received multiple different reference numbers, the fibre order number changed for a second time and different representatives gives you different versions of the progress. Perhaps best to place the order with Telkom, and move the line later. At least you speak to the installation party directly.

Out of nowhere. They finally came to do the installation! It is working splendidly. I hope for everyone in the area to be able to sign-up soon. It is a gazillion times better than ADSL. The installation took about two hours. I did make the setup easy to pre-install truncation for them to pull the cable quickly without needing to drill.

I see Zambezi Country Estate has a dark purple patch now. At least there is some progress......not at my house : (

I see a section in Wonderboom has also gone live now. Hopefully the rest of us would be in short order.
Anybody seen any activity in Montana Park recently? Technicians or anything?
